Not as cheesy as putting an 'x' on the end of your post..

wtf is slips???

It's some ghey program on Quest where 2 people with 2 cars choose how to modify their cars and then race for "slips".

It's very lame... I caught a bit of it last night and when choosing mods you can choose 1) Straight Line Speed, 2) Handling, 3) COmbo.

1 of them chose Straight Line speed so they added an Induction kit and exhaust

The other chose handling and got Toyo 888's, Coilies, ARB's etc etc...

I lost interest before they raced.

they dont even race its shite! its on fastest lap time utter rubbish tv.

sounds like .........crap, what polo did they do up

Remap, exhaust, air filter, oil cooler, headwork, plugs and leads. Not a comprehensive package, but it's a bit more advanced than you said!

It's cheesy, but it's on Viva. What do you expect, haha!

I spoke to a chap at the MPH show with a Civic, said he'd won a mk2 Golf off someone at Max Power. One of your mates?

the timed lap at the end is shit as well, the one i watched it looks like they dont even hit 50mph and the times were about 15 seconds apart. if i was raceing for my car i would rag it! still think its a quite entertaining show... bit cringing though ha. x

Two of my mates actually, Andy Baxter (dep ed) and Nick Thackray (art ed). I was there when they filmed the beginning bit, and I found the Golf. Plus if you watch the episode carefully my G40 makes a very brief appearance at the beginning when they show the Max team with their cars. It's literally for a second though.

If it's the Civic, that had the handling package. Coilovers, adjustable arms, slicks, bigger brakes.

The packages add up to £3,000, and that includes the wrap and wheels which do little for whichever package they add. You won't get much in the way of gains for that sort of money.

Stop sticking up for it Alex, you clearly think it is rubbish too ;)

But as you've said before, it is clearly for people who are not enthusiastic about their cars and are watching it purely for entertainment.

I've got my reservations, just like everyone else, but I think it's getting more of a knocking than it deserves.

yeah

Its not meant to be all technical. Its meant to be good TV.

I watch it because I think its daft, and that geezer thinks hes so gangsta its unbelievable

If it was more serious, I wouldn't be so interested.

I think it is rather terrible, but thats due to the fact that is is so tacky, silly accents, spinning wheel...

But that's what makes telly, if i wanted to find something that goes around a track quick, i would watch Motors TV.

Anyone notice the Mk3 Golf on last week's episode was done like the Scirocco Nurburgring car? Whether you like the end result or not, there's some car geekery going on behind the scenes, and the wrap made me smile. At least there's some thought in it.

I think the green Megane was supposed to look a bit like a Focus RS - hence the blackened trapezoid grille on the front bumper. Not too convinced by that, but the rest of the car looked pretty purposeful, if a bit garish.

well he is a

;)

pinks is way better

Well it will be, it's a proper enthusiast programme with decent budgets. :)

I saw the last half of one with the Nuremburg mk3 golf and the polo gti, so all I saw was the lap. I did think as the girl in the golf was driving the lap: "my God, my mum drives faster than this" - maybe some tuition might be in order, because it might make that part a little bit more entertaining - even though the polo driver was noticeably faster, neither of them looked like they were particularly close to the ragged edge. And as has been said before, they are racing for ownership of their cars after all.

I also thought the girl in the Golf looked like she was about to cry any second once the times had been read out.

Yeah that's one of my problems with it. In slow cars on a small track you need to cut the racing together to make it look more fast paced. Top Gear's Star in a Reasonably Priced car always looks like they're trying. Slips looks slow.
