Hay guys

well today i got a letter from the nice people at Uk Parking Control Ltd saying i need to pay them £45 for leaving the site where my car was parked

the site has a very big bnq and a very big halfords

i looked a round both stores and also spent some money in halfords i dont have anything to prove this from this day but have some for both stores showing i have spent

100's of pounds with them in the past and after the time of my parking "violation"

so i am a valid customer of both stores and even if i dident buy something on that day they shouldnt give me a ticket for looking round should they?

so i have been back to the car park and there is a sign up saying about parking but i haven't seen it there before and it looks new like its just been put up

what do i do just leave it and see if they try to take me to court or do i pay up or try to fight it asking them to prove i left the site?

Write a letter back and say you didn't leave the site, and I would ask for proof that you did. request this to be returned within 30days otherwise you deem the matter closed.

If you paid by car your bank statement should show that you used it.

nar i poped in and just got a break light

yer everything i see online says scam or to just leave it until something happens i will wait and if i get another letter will go see manager of bnq with dad and a copy of all the money we have spent with them as it says on the Uk Parking Control Ltd website the tickets can be cancelled by the people who allow them to operate e.g. bnq

i feel sorry for people that pay this as it sounds like nothing but scams to me.

my ticket was from some gimps in preston for some gay shopping place, iirc if they dont send anythin out after 20 days you dont have to pay it

i would wait for another letter, i had one for exactly the same reason, i just ignored it, never heard anything, they play on the people who are scared and just pay it

think they are clamping down on it at the minute, seems to be in the news lately?

thats good to know yer my friend was parked next to me he got the same thing and is also planning to do nothing well his mum got the ticket as its her car

yer this is what a lot of places say i dont want to pay it and it feels like a scam so i wont be paying and shall see what happens with them

I choose not to ignore it, because i think it makes you look guilty and who kknows what legal backlash will follow.

I looked at the threads/link mentioned in the thread above and generally read around the subject. I wrote a letter essentially asking for the evidence and to prove who the driver was. If it is private land then the contract is with the DRIVER and the LAND OWNER and NOT the REGISTERED KEEPER of the car. Its falls under civil law which is different to criminal law and whatever the law is the Local Authority and DVLA operate under. I am still waiting on a response.

There are other arguements also, but thought I'd keep it simple in the first instance and tke it from there!

i had a letter from these on Thursday, have drafted letter but haven't sent it, myne is for £75 then £150 if not in two weeks, as said by Bolly, it does say on the signs DRIVER but the letter was sent to REGISTERED KEEPER. i done alot of reading up on this company, mostly 90% of people ignore it and some have been 9months without hearing anything, ill see what happens.

well i am still going for the do nothing option and see what happens as if it goes to court i know i can fight it as its such a stupid charge i dont ever really see them taking me to court for it and it looks to me like the day the photos where take the sings went up so i am sure they will have sent a lot of tickets out if a lot of people do nothing about them are they really going to chase all them people up.

i looked at the place i got myne, they are about 8 feet above ground behind a reveal in the brickwork like a chimney breast, cant see it driving in. i didnt even leave the car, i was sat in it for the whole time i was there, 25minutes lol also wasn't in an actual bay.

The CAG forum http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum...affic-offences/ has a big ongoing section on traffic offences in particular parking offences/charges. As the above post indicates Uk Parking Control Ltd is a private company and they would claim that the driver of the vehicle enters into a contract by reading the signs and parking in the carpark. Any breach of the conditions set out on the signs would incur a charge.

They dont know who the driver is so they get the details of the registered keeper from DVLA, (who charge a fee for this) and then write to the keeper claiming that money is owed.

Some people say to ignore them completely others say to write back denying any liability. If you do write be careful you dont reveal who the driver was or give any additional information they could use.

I have had two mates with these parking charges and wrote back using a template letter from the CAG site which went as follows:

Dear Sirs,

I acknowledge receipt of your letter dated ****. It seems that you have got my details from the DVLA and I confirm I am the keeper of the vehicle in question. You need to take this matter up with the driver concerned.

In the meantime I absolutely deny your claim that the amount claimed, or any amount at all, is due to you from me.

We have not heard anything back in several months. It looks like these private car parking companies are operating a scam and work on scaring people into paying. Remember to get their supposed parking charge they would have to take the driver to court and explain why money is owed. In the meantime they may claim the registered keeper is liable or he must tell them who the driver was but this is just bluff.
