I think the internet and forums have ruined a lot of the aura of the presence of a car at a show. If a car is constantly having it's 'latest updates' posted on forums then when I get to a show i'm like, well no need to see that.

Same thing has happened with art and the mass production of art, but I won't go into that!

I haven't read Fast Car or Max Power in years and don't really know what graces their pages these days, but last time I picked one up to read it was a load of utter bollocks and I've never waste any money on either of them!

But Keskins look good and Lensos look wank So there is a difference dependent on what you buy imo

not wanting to take sides in the babz debate, it's a nice car - not my personal taste but then how many people would want my car.

the only thing i find a little annoying is that most mag featured cars these days have to have some aspect of wacky / wild / lairy / rediculous mod to get in there in the first place. i don't see why people can't appreciate a nice car for what it is, a well finished example of that model car.

mikey echo'd my comment on where you draw the line, i can do anything required to my car have welders , grinders, polishing machines, press, compressor etc etc but do not have or even aspire to have painting facilities, large compressor, spray gun and full car sized oven are just out of the question. i'm confident in saying my car is built not bought despite the fact i've paid someone else (a mate) to lay down some paint, i've done the welding, filling, prepping and priming. i have painted my bits myself to a high standard but large panels etc need the oven and proper equiptment so for that i'll happily pay someone else.

People have different opinions on it though. Same as anything I wouldn't buy a fake Louis Vuitton bag, some people would, same thing.

75% off new cars don't interest me, that's my tatse, most off them they don't even get a 2nd look but I will ALWAYS appreciate the passion, hard work and thought that has gone into it What it's all about! People need to stop being so narrow minded!

It's the interior which has made this car special, and the crazy daring match of orange and blue.

The crowds at edition showed there was a massive interest in the car, therefore it got featured as the editors knew people wanted to see it again and know more about it?

it's not to my taste but i can still appreciate it for what it is, a 6n2 finished to a high standard and achieves the look the owner desired well.

it doesn't have to be new / fresh / fully custom etc etc to be a nice car worthy of a feature.

i personally respect the man who 'built' his own car more than the man who paid for his to be done, this doesn't mean i can't respect and appreciate the finished product any more than the other.

i wouldnt take it as lack of respect tho i just think in dan's opinion he cant see whats special about it.

in my opinion it stands out cos its got a bright orange interior some nice rims that are diffrent and it all just ties in together and works well.

Tbh on the whole arguement of built not bought, I think it's a waste of time. I'm sure quite a few of us enjoy having a go, but if on the off chance things go wrong, it could cost even more time and money to get things sorted. Imo people play to their strengths. If your nifty with a set of spanners you rebuild your own engine, if your a good sparkie you sort out your own ice... Although tbh I do quite enjoy having a go at basic things, even if it's just changing a steering wheel as each task I perform on my car is a challenge in it's own right. I spent the majority of my teen years tinkering with computers, rather than cars (I didn't have cash to get parts!).

now alex offered me a feature a bit ago with the d90's on but didnt tell me untill it had been stripped for the engine now its battered so i couldnt take him up on this.

But i think if id of got a feature id of been slated as its just a 1.0 and id of got what is so special about it

how long u have had you are car doesnt really matter tbh... i can see where dan is coming from.

in his eyes.. "are cars including mine"

wheels paint and a retrim arint in his eyes intresting enough to warrent a feature...

where as tbh 90% of the cars that are feature in say pvw.. are 100% spotless and have smoothed bays and really out there mods..

so compared to some of them cars we dont have a patch on them.
