heartbrake again

Featured Replies

hey..i got a bad story to tel

i had a 1.4 16v 6n2 dragon green..my pride and joy..everytime i looked at the car it made me smile..sitting so low on borbet a's(my dream wheels) it really did look the shit.

basically a few days ago the car started playin up and idoling, i left it at the garage for a new lambda sensor and a crank sensor.it was meant to be picked up today but i got a text from my mechanic in the morining saying that ther had been a fire at the garage and everythings gone.

i got there and my heart sank, i looked thorugh the gates at the burnt out metall walls and from thinking its minor paint work job hopefully to actually seeing my polo shell sitting inside burnt out.

i started to cry straight away because all that was left was the shell and a the wheels which had all cracked from when the car exploded and fell to the floor..it was disgusting and really has made me question polos.this is my 3rd car..my second polo and even though i love the way they look and the whole package, its the second one thats ended with heartbreak.after my first crash i really miised my polo but this one made up for it and now this is gone, i really dont think i will have a polo like this..

and i might give up cars all together.50cc i think now

i don't know what the insurers will give back but i dont think ill get what i put in.just the book value as that was all that was insured.and i dont know if the garage will account for the mods..

ill get pics up soon

thanks

man thats terrible :-(

my sympothy mate :-(

Ahh no way dude!

well and truly gutting

What garage was it? What caused the fire?

The garage should be insured for contents and the lot.

so the whole garage went up? if so surely they have to replace every thing of yours that was destroyed? i wouldn't of thought your insurance (or what was cover by it) would even come into it as wouldn't it be covered by there insurance?

gutted to hear about this mate.

thats what I'm hoping because my insurance is just for the standard car..if i added the mods it would of went up 2 grand so i left it normal.it looks like of lost out on a lot though

it was auto technique b-shaw...

its just of neachells lane..it was in the paper today.

aw man thats so gutting i think i would of flipped if i saw either of my cars like that

this is one reason i will never take my car to a garage as this hapend to mi mate when he sent his series one rs turbo off to be restored

he was very lucky though his car only had fire damage to the front wing

i realy do feel for you pal

just dont give up on polo's though mate

if i had of done that i wouldnt have my pride and joy that iv got now

Thats awful, feel for you having had your pride and joy destroyed, happened to me aswell.

But just see it as a chance to start again and do something different...in the Polo scene of course haha.

That is shit luck, feel sorry for you mate.

Garage insurance should also include public liability for anything kept in it.

Garage insurance will pay out mate, you'll get your money ^^. 3rd time lucky though mate ;).

simliar thing nearly happened to mine.. when it was @ MV..

some people broke in and trashed the place... i guess they where looking for money or something. as there was no damage to any of the cars and nothing was missing.

i at least expected a few scratches on my car etc..

end of day you will get money for you are car and all the mods it had on it.. even tho u hadnt delcared them on your insurance am sure the garage one will cover it all.

Ah mate I'm gutted for you. If a garage scratched a wheel and put a dent in my car i'd be raging so if this happened to me i'd be distraught.

But it won't be your insurance company paying for it so the fact you hadn't declared the mods shouldn't be an issue.

The Garage (to run as a business) will have various insurance policies etc so you will get paid out. Have you got receipts for mods etc???

Any pics of the car before the fire?

Eeessshhhh!! Fell sorry for you mate

yeah iv spoken to the garage owner today and hes still not too clear on the policies himself as the landlord is waiting to see what happens withe fire crew before he says anything..but they haven't got content insurance and they told me at the moment it looks like I'm getting trade price..i don't really know what to do at the moment.my papz is saying wait and see what the insurers say first.

i was going to gt it this week an take some pics for my member gallery thing aswell.not a lot of pics..

and as for reciepts i have like half and half but a lot of things i bought off ebay i lost receipts for

I'm sure youd have decent case if it ever went to court?

arse to the trade price...id see what they offer and if its less than what I'm expecting then id be on the phone to some solicitors.

also...if it has been started deliberately, and they find the culprit, are they not responsible for the costs???

they told me at the moment it looks like I'm getting trade price..

trade my arse, you want a car in the same condition/value that yours was and nothing less. its not your fault they burnt your car, and if they haven't got the insurance to cover it then take them to court, i'm pretty sure they shouldn't of been trading without the relevant cover??

Mclovin speaks sense

Every garage will have contents cover, due to the fact that they store other peoples cars in there area, my dads old Audi Cab, went to audi for a head rebuild, while it was in warrenty, they told us (due to thevalue of the car) it will be repaired and stored in a lock enviournment, my dad comes back to find the whole roof had been sliced open, the rear bumper had also been kicked in AND one of the BBS RS's had gone, Not sure why One ?? This is due to them parking it out front onto the main road going through Chester

Yeah Audi might be a large trade but if they didnt have contents insurance on that Specific garage we could of easily sued them, it was bad enough that they didnt park it where they told us, they repaired the lot! replaced the RS and Even give the whole car a full respray and then offered us free services for 5 years,

If they dont agree to pay for the car and MODS at more than trade price do as McLovin said, firstly threaten to take to court then if they still persist on not paying do it, youll get a fair wack!

Youll get something out of it, it just takes time, like said on the news report, the Owener was to "upset" to talk

Think how much hes lost

Garage insurance should pay for full content of garage

i know the owners through my dad thats why my car was there and i wouldnt want to kick them while there down seeing as i know them..the landlord saiod they haven't gt contents insurance but i really cant afford to get 1900 quid for something iv put a year into and an extra 1800..the one owner has said there going to have to sort something out with me but they haven't elaborated.

life without a car is hard..the busses are real cold in the morning

Dude, i know its stupid saying this, but They will have contents insurance or they are not liable to have a Business license (if you get me)

just wait for the insurers to get in touch with the owners, then keep on top of them!

of course they should have contents insurance, its like you drive a car you must have car insurance etc!

Dont take what there saying, no matter if its family friend, they may be saying that, as they dont want a large excess to pay or something (i dont know how it works)

My mum owns her own beauty Business and with the carpark at the shop, EVERYTHING that is in the car park in working hours is under the insurance, say my car was left there during work hours, it would be liable for contents insurance claims

But if it was left there overnight then it wouldnt

Garages will have different to this, which will cover everything

do you want to lose all your money just because you know the owner? they owe you the value of the car mate.
