i visited halfords yesterday and asked them about painting my badge on the rear, they advised me to get primer and then the gloss paint, i read on the primer can you have to use sandpaper to create a key for it to lock onto, so i got my badge and sanded it down with ultra fine sandpaper, it scratched the whole badge, so i primed it then used the gloss black after it dryed, and its just all rubbed off the primer coating as well, how can i get it to stick???

firstly i'd have keyed it using grey scotchbrite. it looks like a pan scourer but its not

halford also sell "plastic primer" which is an adhesion promoter for plastic parts. you spray a light coat of it on before you prime.

once you have primed you need to key the primer when its dry using the scotchbrite again, then you can top coat paint it.

^^^ what he said, maybe your using too fine sand paper, or there maybe some grease or something on the badge. what grit did u use?

I dont rate plastic primer,its never worked for me despite the description.

I use vinyl bumper paint straight onto keyed plastic,then paint over that.

Never had a problem with plastic primer, Use some fine sandpaper to get all the "chrome" effect off the badge then lights coats of primer to build it up into a flat surface then do one final coat, place in drying cupboard) next day sand lightly with extremely fine paper to rough up the surface, spray on paint again in light coats allowing each to become tacky/dry before the next, leave over night, if happy with finish, lacquer.

Between paint and laquer on mine i had a metal fleck paint as well so that added another day of drying.
