right, so about a week ago installed a new fusion head unit to replace my old shitty cd player as it kept skipping

i followed all the instructions in the hand book for the new cd player and wired it in and it was working fine.

got in the next day to start her up to find the battery had been run flat to the point that when you turn the key nothing happens and all the lights dim...

jump started it off my mate's car, left it for 15 mins to charge up, turned it off and on again and seemed ok, but come next day it wouldnt start again

i've double checked all the wiring but something keeps shorting and flattening the battery - any ideas what could be doing it?

its a 1987 bread van and off the road atm - i think the last owner might of been running some sort of strange ICE as there was loads of weird conectors on the battery terminals - which is nearly new and still under warrantee btw

any thoughts or ideas appreciated :-)

ok, new development;

tried to jump started it again tonight (was fuckin freezing out side lol) off my mates car - took a while but eventually got it going. she drove off and i got out to put the bonnet down, in which time the little 1L spluttered and died in the cold. when i tried to start it again the battery light came on but when i turned the key nothing happened.

common guys, someones got to have some idea what could be going on?

hi it could be a verry simple problem that it is just 2 wires mixed up creating a constant curent flow threw the cd player not 100% certan it will be that but its worth checkin

does your stereo turn on and off with the ignition or does it stay on without the key in the ignition

if it is the first suggestion i doubt it is the stereo draining the battery

try tracing all the extra wiring connected to the battery and find out if they are connected to anything if they are not then remove them

fixed it! when i was removing the old wiring harness, i realized there was a blue and white striped cable still plugged into it - so i plugged it into the "remote turn on" slot in the back of the new wiring harness and charged the battery up over night and nows it fine again :-D

now i just need to fix the misfiring and dodgy running engine haha
