Right, the MOT is due on the loon in a couple of weeks so its going in next week.

Just got a couple of questions..

Will it need an emmisions test? Was registered in 1987

Also, I have a huuuge hole under the battery, and its leaking pretty badly into the drivers footwell when it rains! If i patch this up with some fibreglass will that be ok?

Fibreglass will be ok. Done well I don't think they'll even notice.

Yeah, the emissions test for carb'd cars is pretty lax, normally the worst you'll need is the carb retuning. To be safe though, chuck some redex in a tank of fuel in advance and give it a rag on the way to the test center. Fibreglass isn't the ideal repair, but we've all done it, I know there's a car still on the road passing mot's that I fibreglassed the tray up on at least 6 years ago, just make sure you've got as much rust out before you start as possible.

Sweet, cheers guys. The carb needs a bit of a tweek anyways, so will probably have a look at that. Gona go sort the batt tray out in a bit. Front disks are warped also, so need to change them today!

make sure the MOT guy knows to do a pre 92 test! i know it sounds stupid, but i went for one on my mk2 and had to show the guy on his computer that there was a difference, as he failed it first time! wont be going back there again!
