pains me to do this as this was going to be a proper lil project for me but it also pains me to see the car sat on the drive not moving forward or being put to use. those of you looking for a show car should look elsewhere as this has been built and used with the soul purpose of being a lightweight track car.

brief spec combines an 83 sunroof car, in black, with an 1800 gti dx motor running twin 40's,filter king regulator, full longlife stainless sytem, the car is running standard brakes, powder coated gloss black tarantula wheels with pretty new rubber, new wheel bearing, weitech suspension comprising front coilover units and rear shocks and springs(was assusred it was on full coilovers but having checked this is the actual setup) handles like its on rails regardlesss and you wont want it any lower as a track weapon, all glass bar the windscreen is polycarbonate with front sliders to both windows, all sound deadening is gone, as is most of the metal in the doors, weighs in at 713kgs dry, single sparco seat and safety devices harness, plus momo race wheel and snap off boss system. the car is taxed till the end of the year but is currently out of mot, only thing i can seeit needs is a horn button adding due to the snap off wheel and a washer jet putting back in the bonnet.

the only real rust is to the sunroof panel and a tiny bit by the windscreen. few dings and dents as you'd expect for a car used for the purpose its built for. its no show car. i have the original glass if u should desire to use it but its all extra weight and you'd need to use different front doors as there is no internals.

the only down side is the fact when i bought it it had a slight misfire, but was still quick, i was told this was just a case of plugs or a lead as it had not been used much. after replacing all the plugs, leads and rotor arm/cap i discovered its actually got a leak on the gasket to the second venturi on the first carb. i have all the thackery washers, gaskets, nuts to fix this but have no time to finish and as its on my drive it makes it hard to make progress given work and darness/weather constraints. i also have a full gasket set inc head bolts as i was going to change the lot, inc valve stem seals before i used it in anger just to be sure it was spot on. dont like doing things by halves. also have a new thermostat, and oil filter. i'm going to be sad to see this go as it has such character and really does grip well, but i'm in no desperate hurry to take a silly offer as i think its worth the asking price based on the car and parts fitted. i'm looking for £1350 for this, and i may be interested in a cheap px to use and cash on top for the right deal.

here's some pics anyway so have a peek and i'll listen to any and all offers, it is the season to be jolly after all.

really dont want to let this go but it makes me sad to know even if i fix it all it'll be a couple of months b4 it can be used on track anyway now its winter.

cant believe nobody has even made an enquiry on this. i'll be interested in a cheap px and cash, or a nice set of 16" wheels/tyres in 5x100 and some cash my way as well.

would it be easy to turn back to use on the road instead off the track? got a mk4 polo 1.6 8v if u fancy some kinda deal?? cheers

it wouldnt be to hard tbf, you'd need seats and door cards, i have all the glass but you'd need new doors as the ones on the car have been gutted of the internals. i guess it depends on your idea of comfort as to how much of an interior you fancy in it tbh. from the outside, apart from the poly windows its a standard looking car, ish. pm me with your thoughts, i'll consider all and any offers.

thanks for those supportive words, was thinking maybe i'd priced it wrong but having worked it out again i dont think so given even a solid mk1 is getting hard to come by these days.

if you add up what a set of s/h carbs and inlet will cost you, stainless system, poly windows, snap off system and wheel, suspension and brand new tyres and powdercoated wheels, you're getting a mk1 shell for about 300 notes.

it sure can, i've had the car just 6 months and used it for a few weeks when i got it and had such a chuckle with it.
