Bumper modification / plastic welding

Featured Replies

I've ot a 16v bumper and I'm thinking about getting a number plate recess fitted to it and I've been told that ide be best getting another bumper of the same type of material to get the plastics to blend together as best possible, so does anyone know of a bumper with a number plate recess in thats made of the same type of material as a 16v bumper I would have thought maybe another audi or vag like a mk5 polo jsut wondering if someone can point me in the right direction

i suppose you could but ide have thought there'd be more work involved blanking up the ends and and fitting lights and so on.

You mean taking the recess out? So its totally smooth?

An 8v rear will do, they are the same shape as 16v fronts. So you'd get a bit of the rear bumper cut out then welded into the bit where the recess was :)

Yea you need an 8v rear plastic bit and cut out the size and of the recess from the middle then weld it in! Fiberglass then fill it! Check out mctangus's beige 6n he has a few pic of it on an 8v front but it's the same process!

Think I might have misunderstood you! U wanna put a recess into the rear bumper and then smooth your boot plate recess! You could definately plastic weld the old number plate light holes up, cut your recess out and get another rear bumper and make your own recess up or get the recess out of a 6n2 or mk4 golf or something like that
