Never mind education, health care, the endless war, unemployment or incompetent social services. What we need are more speed cameras, because that will just fix everything. And if you honestly think the conservatives or lib dems are going to be any different, you are going to be very disappointed.

^^ Where do you get that pessimism from? Conservatives in Swindon and London have made steps to make life better for the motorist,as it was when they were in main government. This included alot of cameras being switched off.

And the Lib-dems have proven here in Milton Keynes to make a right mess of some previously safe roads and cause accidents with stupid modifications which wouldn't previously have happened. No additional cameras with them afaik,though.

So is that a blanket 'they're all currants' or do you know something i dont?

but i just wish they would fuck off now, were not made of fucking money. its allright for someone earning 70k odd [plus expeneses ] saying "such and such will only be a small increase" but to someone whos a student or low income etc etc it has much more of a disproportionate effect

also in my opinion, it seems as if there is one law for us, and another law for big business and the power of commercial interests

they benefit from abnormal profits which go to the shareholders. shareholders and speculators are the ones who lost all the money in the first place. so in essence, we are paying for them to get EVEN richer as the economy picks up, even though they created the mess

example - we bail out the banks, so technically owned by the country. but the supreme court case allows banks to give as many bank charges as they want [on a technicality, a prime example of a judge having already made the decision before looking at the case pretty much imo], because it makes up 1/3 of their income. in the past 3 yr, I've been in my unarranged overdraft twice for less than a day, and by no more than 50p, which was replaced immediatly. £48 for the priviledge, per pop for that

now that, my friend, is what BOILS MY FUCKING PISS!!!!!

this may be just a lie to try and win some vote's, but that would be a very stupid and dangerous game to play for a party that don't need to lie to win votes...

tbh, i wouldnt mind if it was more 'pay as you speed' - apparently in dubai they just send you a bill at the end of the year but seeing as you get 3 points and lose your license at 12, it seems a bit unfair to tax us on this. especially as many people would lose their jobs etc without a license

I think that if you appeal to keep your job they add the points anyway, though that may be bullshit - but I'm sure iv heard of someone having more than 12 points

if the only punishment you got from speeding was point's and or a ban then i would believe they were doing it in some attempt to try and stop speeding... the problem is you also get a fine, which iirc a big percentage of goes straight to the public purse, so i can't see how they can keep a straight face when they say they are there to save lives.

yeeeeah they do, but you get a special leniency. but this is discretionary and will be dependent on the circumstances/the 'crime'

my mum had 13points on her license about 10 yrs ago but coz me and my bro were only nippers the court was lenient :)

Nothing will ever change. Cameron has already stated he wants a safer and greener society, in motoring terms for me this means higher taxes and more restrictions, but your choice is either labour (not a choice) or that bunch of saps the lib dems. I'll choose the least bad of the three me thinks, the best doesn't exist anymore.

Why am I so pessimistic? Because there's more to politics than cars. And even then the Conservatives are just like the other parties in that they will just say what they want to get into power, so how do you know they'll even stick to those promises?

You can vote for whoever you want, but I see the democratic system as a system where you vote for who you want in power. To me the choices look like this:

New Labour - Very authoritarian, and about as left wing as George Bush.

Conservatives - Right wing authoritarian, and Cameron is a smarmy idiot who I wouldn't want representing me ever.

Lib Dem - Better than above (liberals) but they've already demonstrated they don't really care much for students so meh. They haven't said much about speed cameras so I'm guessing they'd just keep it as it is.

BNP - Racist football hooligans and ex-NF with a "legitimate" front.

They put speedbumps in near me about 6months ago (ther huge and thers about 5 of them on a 200yard of road) pointless! Either end is roundabouts and no1 ever got much speed up their far as I know.

Well twice now theyve had to "reduce" the large one at the end due to cars hitting it and scraping it (just stock height ones) Closing the road off a few days at a time aswell.

How much tax payers money did that cost? For something pointless, and if their going to do it, do it right first time!

Has anyone seen this new policy they want to bring in where hospital donations by the public will actually bt pocketed by the goverment! And then some of it will get deducted from the hospitals budget. So you can't even donate now!

there was a new one of these put up near where I work recently. Only took 3 days for someone to set it on fire :)

speed bumps are a pain in the nuns nice person , it'll only slowed modified cars down , in a standard height car it just makes driving more fun :) or the yellow and black ones , pull up to one , handbrake on , and do a burnout , it melts straight through it

i will no doubt loose my licence in the future for speeding but tbh aslong as you do it in the right place its fine , they'll allways be mixed veiws ......

speed camera's do come out of tax payers money , and they're about 35k aparently , so everytime one gets set fire to its another 35k , but worth every penny , ile happily pay the tax for the rest of my life , just to see a burnt one once a week :)
