Matts 6n 16v OpenAir

Featured Replies

So after finishing my mk3, i felt i needed a bit more power and was getting itchy feet. I checked out a local trading site when i was bored and found a 6n 16v openair with 65k on the clock, quite a bit of service, and seemingly good nick for 1200. I rung the guy and went to see it the same day, the front wing was knackered and the electric window didnt work on the passanger side but aside from that it was in good nick and ran well. I managed to get him down to 700 notes flashin cash in front of him so he took it, lol.

Anyway, so had to get rid of the mk3 to free up some dollar...

I've been using bits from theloudest.com for ages audio wise as they come highly recommended and there dirt cheap. I paid 39 quid for a set of their 1000watt, 450watt rms 6x9s. There amazing!

So anyway got about fitting the sub, 6x9's and headunit.

All in and working, sounds amazing. Just waiting for some front components to arrive from alpine then ill be finished audio wise. Cant wait till I get the coilovers on, will make such a difference.

Future plans include copious amounts of smoothing and some wide wheels. I intend to get my stance on!

Also after a bmc induction kit for the lump, gunna get a new chip and exhaust system.

Eventually ill probably go a different colour

Also, if anyone knows where I can find another openair roof I would be grateful! My one leaks a bit, I've partially sorted the seal but I think I need a whole new unit.

More pics to follow very soon

Can get a new open air roof from there, £185. Not bad seeing as they seem to go for £150ish for a good used one, may as well spend the extra £35 and get a brand new one.

good start dude

Yeah you did well with the mk3 price too!

Only places that spring to mind are eBay or on here, or a breakers.

If you're only after one VW might be able to sort you out, can't see them being that expensive.

I just searched for them mate everywhere and I'm not sure thats what there called, are u sure thats the correct name? It kept coming up with passat alloys.

Hmmm, I'm sure I've seen them called that a few times on this site over the years!

I know this sale has expired but this is what came up when I did a search, is this the type of cap you need?

SO I went to get my girlfriend last night after she got wasted in town.

It was snowing.

I went round a roundabout at honestly 5 mph, hit some ice and the wheels locked up, went straight into a curb. My left front wheel is not sitting about 2 inches back into the mudflap. Rubbing like a bitch.

Pretty sure I've fooked my lower arm, need to get it checked out later by one of my mates. cant believe it!

After fixing my completely shot lower suspension arm (cant believe this was the only thing I damaged, thank god), I got my tracking done and my snow injury to the car was fixed.

Had a couple of days off over christmas and decided to sort out my busted wing. Had bought another one from a scrappys after I bought the car with the knackered one, so decided to get creative. I used to do graffiti so I made up a stencil and airbrushed it onto the wing which I had painted gold. I tried to make the paint as runny as possible coming out the airbrush for a bit of arty effect. After lacquering it a few times I'm quite happy with the result and it gives the car a bit of a different look. :)

SNV30897.jpg

SNV30899.jpg

After 2 hours of pissing about I finally managed to get the wing back on. The old one took ages to get off due to rusty bolts etc and an inner arch that refused to come out.

Personally, i don't like the watery effect, looks like you can't spray :p.
