Right so been doing a few bits and bobs.

Going to be sorting out the gold wing in the near future and get the car ready for a respray coming soon.

Have colour coded the rear badge and also ordered a load of red vinyl leather that I'm going to be retrimming the interior with so the colour matches up a bit better overall.

thats the current state of my lounge, got the door cards, headlining and a/b pillars out and ready for retrimming. The open air roof has also been sealed all around the inside, as it was leaking a fair bit onto the headlining which can be seen from the staining!

decided to do the badge in white and black to keep with the theme. Took it apart, sanded it down, keyed it up

Then sprayed it and put it in the oven after id turned it off whilst it was still warm. Sped up the paint drying a right treat haha!

Also had an issue with my clocks, petrol gauge was temperemental to say the least. So I took it out, fixed it and whilst I was at it pimped my clocks out. I was going to buy some lockwood dials but at 40 quid+ a set I'm not really up for that!

I'm a designer mate so I'm always on a mission to be ridiculously creative and usually bodging shit up haha!

Next plans include 2 tone paint (possibly) and a shed load of smoothing. Then its red leather inside and new buckets...then eventually a 1.8t! :)

Red leather vinyl arrived so went about retrimming my headlining initially and then the a and b door pillars.

Done a few other little bits today. However, need to sort out my bloody headlining because when I put it back in it was a bit hard to do and I've made the vinyl sag, so ordered some proper glue. Will be taking it out and redoing it when I finish off lining out the doorcards

Yo man this car looks absolutly immense!!!!! Question! where you get the red interior fabric from I wanna get some blue for my 9n :):) second question! How easy is it to fit the interior?

  • Author

hey bro

interior is red leather vinyl, its not actually leather but it looks exactly the same and its only about a tenner for 1.5 metres squared off ebay!

Its pretty easy to do if you just take all the bits out mate, taking you are headlining out means u have to remove you are sun visors and stuff but as long as you use the right glue (which I didnt) when adding the leather vinyl its pretty easy. Patience is definatly a virtue. If u take your time it can look perfect.

Doorcards were a bit of a nightmare though coz of the curves! But they shall be sorted soon.

hope this helps

aha like your tackling it all on your own , how did you find trimming the roof?

i see creases have plagued you like they did me by the interior light and lump is for the openair mech.....i got round it by using a separate piece over that section and it eliminated the creases :D

yea man was such a bastard lol. I'm gunna get it professionally done at some point.

So some guy offered me a complete green colour concept interior. For 50 quid! And he also had an openair roof that didnt leak like mine and was in mint condition. So I went to his garage and took apart 2 polos for the bits.

The only problem is the bolster on the drivers seat has torn but my friend shall be redoing them within the next couple of weeks. there so comfy!!!

Been a bit quiet with this for a few months but I have been slowly doing progress. Recent changes include new wiper motor, new ignition coil, wiper blades, headlamps/tailights, respray, smoothed boot and boot popper, colour concept interior, new roof, headlining and pillars, few new stickers, and little bits and bobs

I have however, just driven it home and the cambelt snapped. Luckily I was only doing 10mph at low revs so I cant imagine I would have done any major damage to the valves or pistons but I need to sort it - and also get the head off to have a look

Anyway, few new photos. Colour of choice was matt blue from monster colours, who a few others on here have used. Quality paint!

Right, been a bit quiet recently with moving house, job change etc. Slowly been doing bits and bobs as an when I could. After spraying the car blue, the finish was pretty terrible as I rattle canned it and although I knew it was meant to be temporary it started to piss me off. So I began sanding it all back again bit by bit after work and filling/smoothing. As my uncle owns a bodyshop, he told me to prep the car the best I could then send it down to him, which is what I have done

So car is currently in primer grey! Will be going in in 2 weeks. Other bits I've done recently have been new window regs, drive belt, wing mirrors, height adjustment (as I got stuck in a field), and some general service bits..

Future plans are bodyshop (still unsure on colour) - then exhaust by philj, possibly a side exit but going to discuss it with him when i get it down there

Smoked window tints

new tyres

spacing

and some interior bits sent off to the retrimmers, plus changing the green colour concept seats to white and red.

Anyway, had my new slr on me and was down bazingstoke today so took some recent pics. Heres my car in primer grey! :)

grey ftw! them dials are cool as fuck too

If i keep getting compliments I'm gunna keep it grey. Me and my housemate do graffiti so we were considering adding some black stencils here and there. Will have to see!

I did the dials myself mate, just took em out, removed the needles carefully and added a few stickers I got from a snowboarding shop (10 for a quid)

If u go in and ask they usually have boxes of stickers they get given for free and theres usually some sick ones lying about, give it a bash :D
