cheers for the comments. That camo stuff was from ebay. Cost about 4 quid a meter. It wasn't the best fabric but one of my mates has used snow ca,o and that seemed a lot better. Any more ideas on colour?

Sweet il look for some, what glue did you use fabric glue? I'm thinking of vinyl camoing my whole dash and door cards, I'd go Audi White cuz I'm biased as that what I have aha, il get some pictures up soon and of the interior revamp

That grey does look sick doesnt it. I just started making a swatch and thought id do some colours I usually wouldnt consider, that being the main one along with the yellow. Never would have thought it would look good!

It seems at the moment everythings going wrong with this car, the gearbox is whining and sounds like its on its way out and I think theres a problem with the steering rack. Way too much play in it and clicking noises.

First plan though is to sort the gearbox and wack a new clutch in there. I considered sending mine away to get fixed, anybody know any good, cheap companies? Vega were a bit expensive as were a few others I looked at, even though I'm in the trade its about £300 quid to get it rebuilt with uprated bearings etc.

Seen some valver gearboxes knocking about for around £100, might have to take a chance on one of those. I really dont want to have to fit it though to find out its fubar'ed.

My gearbox died on the way home last night so I'm currently trying to source a new one. My cars currently jacked up in the garage next door to the engineering place. When I get a gearbox do you fancy giving me a hand mate? Ill try and sort you some cash but I'm pretty skint at the moment.

Lost 1,2,5th gear on the way home last night lol

I did indeed mate :) U got a polo?

Yea man got a flash red 6n valver :) running standard alloys but slammed :)

Just found your thread!

Love the car and the DIYness of it!

Hope you get the gearbox sorted.

As for colour, go for something VAG that no Polos ever came in - the ones you have up there are all quite similar to existing colours.

Some rather major updates...

Got a new gearbox fitted, courtesy of Olly (polo6n2g40 - top lad), who also sorted out a few other running issues on my motor.

After driving to Ollys, 30 miles away, with 2 gears (which was hilariously hard work) - i also noticed that my car was massively misfiring which it had never done before. Olly checked over all the ignition etc when he did the box and said the sparks seemed a bit damp, i had no idea why

Then i remembered, i was pissing about under my bonnet in the rain for the best part of 6 hours which is why everything was wet! So i needed to get the car home, with its new, nicely shifting box - and sort out the dampness.

Out come the spark plugs and into some rice they went to absorb any moisture.

After leaving it all to dry out for a few hours i reassembled and the problem was completely fixed, finally my car is running good again!

Also grabbed the 280 momo wheel and boss off Olly when i was down there, aswell as picking up some doorcards tonight as mine are knackered.

Hopefully work should start speeding up now the cars mechanically sorted, got to get some paint together then painting should start next weekend!

:)
