How bad can my day get but i think the garage i used has lost my service history book

Am i right in thinkin its all lost for good?

If I'm right in fearin the worst, how do i go about gettin a new service book? Hope it makes sense.

I was fumin mate, nice little outburst! They said they'll have another look for me an if they cant find it.. they'll sort me out a composation deal but warned me it aint going to be alot.

Service history wasnt perfect but it still was for resale value!

i'd be effin fuming as well. Get them to look, look and look again and make sure they do it properly and not just a quick glance. If they cant find it, give them an amount of money you want for the book otherwise they'll most likely just try and give you peanuts.

If they don't find it, surely trading standards will be able to do something or what ever, considering they have lost some of your possessions that they were looking after.

It's not a personal belonging. It's part of the car!

and those signs mean jack schit ud still be entiltled to the value of any item lost even with one of those signs up.

And the value of the service book is the price of the book plus the mark down price of the car (imo)

what garage in reading done that mate?

if they do offer you cash , get a written statment of them declaring that the car has FSH but was lost at this garage, we will acknowlage any calls regarding this cars service history ect. ect....

You can buy new ones, get them to stamp it up again. Had this happen on a motorbike, went to a Kawasaki dealer and got a new service book, and got them to stamp it up.

Is it a VW dealer or a small garage?

If its all VW service history then you can get another book made up as everything should be recorded in their system.

If they can't find it though I'd be wanting a good few quid.

What crosses my mind is...if they forgot where they placed a service book what if they forgot to put something like oil in your car and give it back to you bone dry.

I'm with the stamped-up book idea. They should be too,as it'll cost them little. And its best for the future of your car,so you can continue recording the servicing.
