The common one to use is CBR600 ones. Mainly due to the fact its what most other people have used. Yes the jets need to be changed/drilled out. Have a look at the links at the top it should give you an idea of what other people have done. :)

exactly which carbs did you use??? also did you cchange the jets e.c.t??

i used CBR 600 FS/FT post 94 which are the F3 revision i believe.

I've not done anything to the jets and it runs well if a little rich, but as said by max above, they will need fettling and its best taking it to a true bike expert, ala bogg bros. most bike places only wont touch them as they dont feel confident with the bike carbs on a car.

The carbs are designed to feed a certain amount of fuel/air mixture per minute.

The quantity 'digested' by a sports 600cc bike engine is typically around that of a 1.3/1.4 car engine,given the power bands,typical rev range etc.

well done saf looks good, but you missed one vital piece of info outof the gearbox bit - remember the release bearing!!!!

its doing good mate, although I'm away in eygpt at teh minute so missing driving it, carb rubbers keep popping off as the ones i used were for my r1 itbs and the ports are larger than the cbrs, but as soon as i get back to manc, I'm popping to ants, grabbing some spares off him and then fitting them ready for the meet on the 3rd.

it was running bloody well mind, despite no reverse gear, oil pressure buzzing its tits off and no speedo L=| but was just desperate to have a drive in it before i took i went on holiday!

Will the mk4 flywheel + starter work with the mk2 5-speed box I have? Just gotta bolt em up outside the engine bay yea??

yeh will bolt straight on but you will have to grind a flat on the os driveshaft flange to let it slip over the flywheel.

and yes far easier doing it out of the engine bay, youll save alot of swearing and fucking about.

Right decided to use the Mk3 flywheel and special starter now so its lighter and revs more freely :)

Alternator - I found a VR6 Alternator that is 90Amp I would like to use it. Exactly the same as the Mk4 one minus the pulley, anyone bodged the Mk4 one onto a Mk3 mount? :p

thats because i didnt put a part number in for the late mk3 starter as i just used the mk4 afh jobbie.

the correct starter motor is listed in renegade440s build thread alone with pictures of all 4.

id get you a part number but vagcat is down for the forseeable future.

I have two sets of carbs

1995 CBR600 FS/FT - Jetted as 144/142

1999 CBR600 FX - Jetted at 134/132

FS/FT emulsion tube on the left, FX emulsion tube on the right

the FX needle in the picture above still has the jet fitted in situ.

you can see the FS/FT needle is very dull, it should be bright and shiny like the FX's.

The carbs I have been running since November have been the 95 model, which I believe Max_Crox is too. His have been set up by Bogg Bros however.

What kind of power are you getting from this dude?

For a 1994 Polo I'm getting the following three part numbers for starters:

036911023MX

036911023HX

Any idea which it is? Need to source one.

max crox got 126bhp with a pretty similar setup, so id say around 120 or therabouts, should be running better with some bigger main jets, but goes well and delivers very good fuel economy, I'm getting around 100 miles to 15 pounds - circa 12 litres of v power, so thats about 2.5 gallons so id say somewhere around 40mpg, better than the hk with the weber anyway on the daily commute.

you can fit the afh starter and afh flywheel, you just need the small bodied mk3 starter not sure on part number mate, the hk's one was mahoosive in comparison

I dont have the AFH starter :( But I have a GT flywheel, which means I'd need this elusive starter.. missions to find one tho :/

Rang VW about that G40 Oil T-Piece.

They said something about a banjo fitting that comes in two separate parts.

Works out as about 40 quid for the two.

Does this sound right? I was gunna Vagcat it but i cant seem to get on there.

yeh thats right mate, you can get oil t pieces from places such as merlin motorsport for 8 pound

So do you just need the correct thread and itl work?
