Hmm, not bad at all.

  • 5 weeks later...

So are you on 16v bumpers now then?

  • Author

No no! Still reping 8v bumpers! Got some update coming (when the bloke with my dishes pulls his finger out bin a month now!) got some smoked rears possibly some carbon wrapped content!

so got myself a sample piece (10cmx20cm) of 3m di-noc carbon fibre vinyl and did this as a test piece thinking it was inconspicuous (didnt even think about how complicated a shape it was) and i think it turned out well for a sausage fingered first timer and a very tricky shape! this is the trickiest shape I'm going to be doing as ill only be doing a few accent parts!

also my engine cover numbers ("1.4" bit) were looking abit shabby so with a bit of offcut i decided to see what they would be like in carbon, also abit tricky but once its redone in the propper stuff with heat should look a whole lot better!

Dunno about the engine cover... But the first pic looks awesome!

yeah i was thinking its not too great, but better than paint wearing off, might replace the top badge with a vr6 highline badges and spray the whole thing satin black (new scheme is grey, polished alloy, satin black and carbon) would really like a 70mm black wolfsburg badge on that, reckon it would look ace!

Like the first pic! looks good. Sample piece for free?

nah mate nothing free anymore lol no it was abot £1.30 to do that, now I'm gonna get some more do the handle pulls (bit that pops off to get door card off), washer jets, inside the lights, might get some more handles and wrap them so i have delocked colour coded, and delocked carbon dunno which would look better

waiting on a price for carbon wrapping of the bbs! they will be sprayed 2k satin black then wrapped so if its to expensive ill keep em satin!

thinking about taking it back off the mirror sanding the lettering down (completely forgot/disregarded them initially!)

and redoing it this also was the cause of a cracked windscreen (just cracke under hardly any pressure!!) so maybe just maybe, I'll get te 6n2 windscreen depending on prices!

I think that's it for cf wrapping on the interior. Although I might make a mongrel handbrake surround (2x 6n handbrake surrounds) to house the 6n2 handbrake, I think a clever bit of cutting an plastic welding then just wrap it in cf to finish it off! Might do more in th engine bay dunno what tho! Any ideas???

I think you should leave the rear view as it is! Did you crack your screen doing that today?! I will never touch my rear view because it seems that everyone cracks theirs!

Yeah well I just rushed putting it back together! The stalk is so easy to get of just spray with some wd40 and tease it anti clock wise! But I put the stalk on and then tried pushing the mirror back on! (dumbass or what!) I pulled the stalk from the back and pushed the mirror on gently and it went! Should have just taken the extra 0.5 seconds and done it properly now! Haha!

eeeesshhh. Gutted.

Tell me bout it just got home and checked my policy I'm not insured!!!

anyon with a 6n2 wanna let me use there reg for quotes? Cheers!

when you wrapped your door handles did you stick it around the edges or cut it at the edges :)

Thanks

Do you use a heat gun to get it round all the curvey bits?

  • Author

yeah just low/medium heat, its really mice stuff to work with! folded it and stuck it round the edges then its nice and secure, especially when you put the handle back in its a tight fit and nips it all up nicely!
