alright, my mates got some 12" compomotive alloy wheels the same shape as standard mini alloys and he was on about selling them me, just wonderd if they would fit, does anybody know? cheers

You'd either have to be very funking brave or very stupid to run 12" wheels. 99% of people struggle with 13's on non-balloon tyres. But, going off them being mini-fitment, they will fit with standard bolts, wobble bolts are slightly safer.

Will they go over 8v brakes though?

As a matter of fact, no, they wouldn't get over 8v brakes. 13"s are close as it is.

Looks are down to you,its not for me to say your idea is crap on the basis of my personal preference and taste..

To answer the question asked,you'll need collared bolts and spigot rings for it to be safe. And brake clearance may be a problem (wheel dependant) but this can be overcome with professional modification to the hub. Try the wheel first though,because being a low offset,it may clear without modification.
