When the fuel light comes on I tend to just drive it hard up to 40 and 5th Gear it.

Getting to speed in 1 gear is better than spending longer using all 5 :)

I once had the misfortune of being a passenger in an associates car. He'd go 1st 2nd third fourth fifth, then fourth 3rd 2nd etc.. fucking everywhere, when he wasn't even going to need more than 3rd (speed wise). I swear some people just like changing gear for the hell of it.

What really pisses me off is people in diesels driving below 2k and using fifth gear in a 30 etc, the car honestly sounds like it wants to stall half the time, all I think is poor engine, it wants to be turned over and your making it shake itself to death.. to save a few quid on diesel! Will it save money long-term though?
