The other day i got banned from driving because of a daft crash i had back in july. I got 6 points for it so because I've being driving less than two years means i have to do my test again which you all probably know. Don't know if this is right or not but I've got both parts of my licence back which has nothing on it to say i can't drive just the 6 points on it. Is this normal? quite curious.

One of my mates got banned from driving and got 6points in his first 2 years of driving for having a heavy right foot. He never got any part of his license back and had to apply for his provisional etc again and also rebook his theory and practical test.

My brother on the other hand got banned for driving for also having a heavy right foot. He got the same 6 points in his first 2 years and then got banned for 4 months but got his license back through the post like you have and he was aloud to drive again and he now has a new license clear of points.

So its quite confusing. If i was you mate, go to your local cop station, speak to them and also a traffic cop who will be more hooked up with the knowledge for this and then ask them.

Best asking and getting the answer you want to say you can drive than getting pulled over and be caught for driving whilst disqualified. :)

i got 6 points last friday because i got done by a speed camera doin over 40mph. but the judges said that i can continue driving, but if i get anymore points I'm banned. i ust to think it was get 6 points and your buggerd, but obviously not lol

I know what you are thinking bud, just drive about anyway and if you do get pulled just show them your license and telling the cops to eff off.

but it might not work like that mate, you may have the license given to you but according to DVLA records you are banned. and that is what cops will go on. even if you do have the hard copy of a license to show, they will just say that you knew you had been banned so you shouldn't have been on road regardless. they will say 'ignorance is no excuse' and all that.

better to go and check, rather than risk getting done for driving whilst disqualified.

Definately mate :) The cops will always win If you haven't been banned then you will be told so and can be on your way, if you have and you drive they will find you

yeah I'm 8 months off driving 2 years. they said that i could keep driving, but if i get any more points I'm off the road. so I'm gunna keep driving lol

my mates had the same thing as this he got stoped around the same time as you but the copa who stoped him wa'nt on duty an he phone for back up car an the over police that come said he will not be band but the begin of this month he had a ban come though an he still has his lince so if they haven't sent you a letter or anythink to say your baned yet your buzzin reali mate.

I got 7 points a few years ago now for a crash too.

The crash was before my 2 years was up but I got the points after so I thought I was in the clear.

I got both parts sent back to me as you have and just kept on driving, then 2 months later I got a letter from the DVLA saying they were going to revoke my licence on such a date due to the new driver scheme.

Thats when they took my licence and I had to apply for my provisional again etc...

So I assume thats what will happen to you, sounds like you can drive just now then in about 2 months the DVLA will catch up with you and take your licence away.

Unless the courts said to you "your banned from driving for x amount of time"

And just to add the new drivers scheme doesn't ban you it just takes your full licence away and replaces it with a provisional, so you can drive just not with the rights a full licence gives you. So not a ban really.

Your not banned if you have photo licence back and counter part.

Nope, 6 points in your first 2 years. Not more than 6 points.

think you will show as a Banned driver on Computers...

You may not getted ANPR nabbed, but if you get pulled for any reason, only if its a stop check, they will Dig up your 6 points and screw you..

Even if you werent told you where or it shows no points on you Paper part of you liecence.

Dont risk it mate, think you can get jail time / Banned for 2 Years..

I have points:

3 for Au80 or something like that ( using a handheld device while driving ) didnt affect me to much, insurace wise..

Wounder what insurace would be like if you got "Manslaughter through dangerous driving"

got both parts off my licence back 2day, paper part says 6 points. but I've still got my full plastic licence and they havnt issued me with a provisional. your all giving me a bad feeling now that somethings gunna crop up in a couple of months in the post saying I'm banned or sumut lol. but I'm going by what the court has told me + doesnt it go by what you get points for now?? like speeding is a minor offence or wether its a crash or something else...

i was in a crash about 3 weeks ago, manage to write of ma ford ka which was abit of a blessing, the police said on the side of the road that i had 6 points and a 400 pound fine + a day in court, they then offered me a 2day driving course for £180 which would stop all that. i was abit pissed of because in my statment i had said that it was a vans fault for bad driving, but the police where having nothin of it, i did bump another car but did most damage to a bush. about a week later i got a letter of the police saying there would be no further action due to the other woman who i bumped saying it was also the vans fault mainly. so if you are crash is for undue care and attention then try to get in touch with the police (preferably the one at the scene of the incident) and ask if your could take the 2day driving awareness course. then again I'm not sure if the awareness course is only local to cheshire police.

I was then in court earlier this year for crashing the peamobile. They had the power to revoke my licence but didn't due to the fact that i needed my car for work.

I genuinely think that if you go to court dressed properly and act remorsefully to the judges then you will get treated alot more fairly. They deal with chav tracksuit scum 6 days out of 7 so get yourself dressed properly!

yeah i went smartly dressed, and they said becuase i pleaded guilty early and had a clean licence they wernt gonna ban or revoke my licence lol

it shouldn't give you any issues, most of the time your asked by the insurance have you been convicted of a motoring offense in the last five years? in most cases of death by dangerous driving your given at least a 5 year ban, so by the time you sort your shit out and get your license you don't have to declare it unless they tell you otherwise, because you were convicted at least more than 5 years ago.

that's how i played it out any way and i've never had any come backs off it after my accident and i've had a claim since getting my license back.

Having recently come out of a one year ban, i'm half tempted not to declare it.

Speaking illegally of course, how would they actually know unless you had to make a claim ?

First time I had to go to court, points added up for excessive speed, I dressed smartly as I always do and managed to wangle keeping my license, i ended up with 15 points on my license which wasn't so great but at least I was still driving.

I went on the computer at work, printed myself off a letter saying that I was doing relief work through the company at various locations and if I lost my license then I wouldn't be able to fullfill my contractual obligations and would be "let go". I used letterheaded paper and forged the manageress' signature.

Worked fine, then when I got noticed by the fuzz doing a handbrake turn, I had to go again, I knew I was boned as I'd pleaded extenuating circumstances once before so I couldn't do it again so I rocked up and had a lot of fun with it being rather sarcastic.

I lost my license for a year and it was so amusing I'd do it again.

thing is if you hit a farrari or something, total your car and you get hurt (eg. cant do a runner, OMG somebody stole my car!)

You pay for the ferrari's damages, drivers cliams..hospital fees...bans....jail time....£100,000s?

I'm 50/50 on the situation.... i would risk it if i has an extra 2 grand put on my insurace lol, but not for the sake of a few 100notes...
