Remote Central Locking 1996 POLO

Featured Replies

So my car already has central locking but i wanted to upgrade to remote central locking. I bought a kit from ebay and set about trying to install it. I opened the 'first aid' kit in the boot to get to the central locking pump and found that the previous owner had already tried to fit remote central locking. The transmitter was all wired up but didnt seem to have any power going to it (ie i could not program the key fobs). I changed the transmitter round using the same wires so i was using my one that came in the kit and tried to program the keyfobs, but to no avail. I was wondering if anyone could help me with this? The transmitter just seems to have no power at the moment and I'm not really sure where is best to get the power from?

If anyone could help that would be awesome

Thanks

if you have a wire to get the power to i would run it to the back of the fuse box i have done a thread of where i found the correct red wire, its a bugger to get to! or do all the wiring, and take it to auto electricans to get the one wire sorted shouldnt be too much!

I've found it quite good to get the power from the cigarette lighter. The transmitter now makes a funny clicking noise when I'm pushing the buttons on the fob, but doesnt actually lock or unlock the doors. Any ideas? Could it potentially be dodgy wiring from the previous owner? Anybody here hip on how to wire up these things and want to do a photo tutorial? Thanks

Take all the old wiring out mate and re-wire it freshly following the instructions you got with it. Would be the best way.
