I haven't changed my wheels on my golf this winter because i haven't been driving it, its been sitting on my drive for over 10 weeks. i came back from my mrs this morning and obviously the snow was all over them and there was ice frozen to them.

whats the worst that could happen ? because i know people usually put shitter 'winter wheels' on in the winter so they're good wheels are protected..

it may be a dumb question, but what should i be worried for ?

If its just sitting there I'd have thought it would be alright, its just frozen water after all, and it will form to the wheel so won't sctrach of damage it in any way.

The reason I put winters on is just incase I slide into a curb and fuck my good wheels up, I assume everyone else does it for the same reason.

Also the salt on roads tends to eat away at everything. Alloy will tarnish as a result of corrosion.

as above - it's only really the salt / grit you really need to worry about as it'll fork up the lacquer and eat into any exposed ally.

yeah, my schmidts << are off to because i wont wash them in winter and the salt will tarnish them.

Snow if anything will clean your wheels.

Its the salt that will mess them up.
