Heat gun.

Featured Replies

Just a quick question, instead of using paint stripper to strip the paint of alloys and avoid all the mess and burning

Could you not just use a heat gun? or would this cause the alloy to crack and disform?

thanks :-D

wont work on powdercoated finishes, but it might work on painted ones. you'll struggle to damage the metal with a heat gun tbh.

If i remember right standard alloys are just sprayed correct? as last time when i did it i had to take the top coat off then there was like a primer underneath it.

Pain stripping per wheel last time took around 2 hours each, if a heat gun would work i think it would only take 1 hour max (half the time, and alot less messy)

How about heat and paint stripper.. That would surely demolish all!

Would demolish your garage if you weren't careful not to set the paint stripper alight!

Would prob work, but you may end up breathing in some dark-shit fumes! Nitromors loves heat, get a can of that apply liberally and tease it with the heat gun, worked a treat on my cycle frame

yup nitromores, some gloves and goggles. oh I forgot to mention the wirebrush on the end of a drill , you can get 3 differnt types from screw fix for like 7quid.

if the nitromores gets on you, you'll be running around for a bit, if it gets in you are eye.....your fekked.

heres how mine went.

Heres how I got them

Currently I have used a method called coaching to paint these.

Coaching is a method is where you paint with a brush and wet sand out the brush marks, then will reprimer and gloss black it.

I have used hammerite 5 year protection of rust ad corrosion and w/e else this shit does.

Fuck nitromors, i've heard the wickes own brand is just as good for faaar less..

Ye don't get nitromoors in your eye, a bit of nitromoors/tar &glue remover mixture flicked off the brush into mine, burnt/melted a hole in my contact lense... painful!!! :retard:

Ouch!

I got my BBS RAs sand blasted. Only cost a fiver a rim, saved the headache of doing it myself. By the time you've bought the nitromors and some wire wheels for your drill your probably looking at £14-15. Might as well just spend the extra £5 and get them done so there is no shite on them at all.

I dont recommend using a wire brush unless its a plastic one,as the steel wires damage the aluminium-alloy.

Agitating the paint stripper with a nylon bristle brush works fine ime.
