175/60/13's

Featured Replies

Hello, quick question as I am looking at getting a deal on 4 tarantulas (13"5.5J?) with 175/60/13's

Thats 10 less in the rolling radius that is currently on my car (a mk2 squareback)

Is that a good tyre for a square or is it quite low in profile, my car is lowered 60/40 and I don't want to create the image that it is sitting higher. Also don't want to have a tyre that increases the mileage. Or am I being paranoid and it won't hardly make a diference?

Cheers MacColl

175/60-13s are oem fit to G40s, so they are perfect in terms of rolling radius for a Mk2, but you might need to beat your rear arches for them to fit a squareback that's been lowered.

you're better off with 155, that's what i got on mine...

Cheers for the comments,

The only set this geezer has left has 185/70/13's but were talking a set of good conditioned tarantulas with plenty wear for £50 pound and I think two of the tyre's are Nankangs. I'm such a newbie with this shit, I'm still rolling with the steels I bought the car with.

So 185's will be wider and therefore rub on the inner arch of a square? I'll soon sort that out lol.

185/70s are massive balloons,I'm running 185/60s and they're bigger than standard.

Think I'm loosing it lol. What I meant to say was they're 175/80's so Mikey are they ok?

I'll get them anyway for that price. I'll clear out of the wheels section before I get a nosebleed.

145/60 michelin...what i put on my 13x6's

175/80s are even bigger! Probably early Granada/Sierra tyres or something.. They're cheap? Maybe because nothing runs them.

You wanna download the Miata Tyre Calculator from Google.

Remember, the first number is the width of the tread in mm's,and the second is the profile height in percentage of the width.

my tarantulas came with 185/60s on them. a size the tyre place always has to order, costs more, and definately scrubs the back arches of a square at the slightest whisper of weight in the back! so if you dont want to increase your width i would stick with something skinnier. even at extra depth like the 70s wont hurt cos they'll go up into the arches height wise its just getting them past that flat back arch!

175/65-13s should be alright. I ran them and they at least clear at the front when down 40mm.
