If you don't do it often just pay the cash. I'm always swapping rims and tyres so I always use the same place so they give me a good discount. I just drop them off and come back later and its done. No headache and doesn't cost a fortune.

Good thinking on the improvised slide hammer. Think you did that quicker than I do with a tyre machine.

Only minor criticism I have is I was taught not to hammer side walls, but if you're not reusing the tyre, can't see it being a prob.
