I am trying to fit a pc5 ariel booster to the car radio head unit. I bought the booster seperate and I am trying to connect the blue wire to the connector. There is a blue cable already in slot 5 which I am trying to take out so I can replace it with the blue cable from the booster adapter. Problem is I cannot release the old blue cable from the unit. I have pulled, pushed - you name it. Is there a special tool for me to do this please?

I am doing this as I have no MW on my new radio I bought from Halfords. When I put the booster able near connection 5 on the connector block, I get a perfect MW connection - I just need to get in in the connector block.

If this is on the male connector (from vehicle side) it is a little trickier, you have to use a safety pin, or something small and pointy the stronger the better.

now have the connector in front of you with the securing tab to one side, you will see where the connectors are it is in a plus shape, you must poke the pin into either the left or right side of the plus. it should come loose after a while.

If it is on the female side (from headunit)it is alot easier, again you need a safety pin.

with the connector in front of you with the tab to the side, you can see on the side of the pins there is a piece of metal bent away from the pin, in suh a way that when you pull it this piece will anchor it in.

you simply push the piece back towards the pin and hey presto !

I plan to try this tomorrow but will need to get hold of a saftey pin first.

Once out, the blue cable from the arial booster, do I just put this in slot 5 of the connector block? What happens to the old blue cable which is currently in the block? do I just leave it loose or would I have to connect the 2 blues together some how?

hi,

i am not to sure what the blue cable is for, but as you are using an aftermarket headunit, there should be a guide on the headunit itself, or in the manual that would tell you which wire or pin is for something like "sub out" or "antena".

you should then be abl to tell which colour wire coming from the headunit it is, and if there is no pin on the cars connector in that place then use that and leave the blue wire.

the blue wire is to give the booster a 12v feed, it doesnt matter were u connect it to as long its got 12v, red wire, or yellow wire. it HAS to be 12v tho
