hi guys i have a 1.0 6n2 and recently bought a gti splitter as a xmas present for myself, but just had a look on how to fit it and the original splitter on the car has like plastic clips on it and the gti one doesn't, is it the same fitting? as they look very different? can anyone help me out? how do i take the original one off? i cant seam to undo the clips or whatever else its stuck on to.

you've obviousl bought a gti splitter that has been used on a mk4 6n? if you have they have to trim the clips off to fit it! but if you haven't then it should be exactly the same! they just clip in, get some pics up matey

The GTi one should have clips in the exact same postion as the original one on your car and should be as straight swap.

Hi guys I final have the pic's up as I managed to get the standard splitter of my 1.0. The part number for the GTI is: 6n0 805 903 B41. Can anyone check if this is correct? and if its going to fit my 1.0.

oh ok is thats def for the 6n2 gti? and it will fit my 1.0L? iv just wasted £50 on one that i dont need because I missed the letter E!

thanks very much guys!! i got it finally and the right one and fits perfect! took me 5 mins to put on and what a difference it looks! so next time i gotta check wid some one that the part it right?!! i still have a new splitter for a polo possibly for the 9n? let me know if anyone interested.

oh right! I'm surprised how different they are considering how similar other things are on the car. But it def is a GTi one as they look exactly the same its just the fixing is different.

Just go to your local VW dealer, ask for the GTI front splitter.

He'll show you it up on the screen where you can confirm it is the right one.

When it arrives, unclip your old one and re-fit the GTI one.

Simple!

thanks indy iv manage to do y'day i had ordered the splitter for the 6n instead of the 6n2, as i got a part number off here when i was doing a search but didn't check to see if it was the right one. iv got the right one on now i just have a new one that i don't need. if any 1 is interested in?

I know it's probly really simple to do but can anybody gimme a walkthrough on removing the standard 1.4 splitter and fitting the gti one please (6n2) thanks!

there a ball ache to remove. u will need an extra pair of hands to get it off.

Or a easier way is to remove your bumper, theres a fair few of them, all allen key type screws, some are hidden under your indicators.

If your getting pissed off trying to remove your standard splitter, get a hammer and chizzle and chip off the holding clips, depends if u care about the normal splitter :)

most people on here make it sound so easy to do, but that sounds like a right ball ache!

Getting the splitter of isn't that hard?

One bolt either side, then just pull it off lol.

The only thing that makes it hard is that you think because your bending it so much that it'll snap, but it's pretty tough. My current one now though is in bits, it's sad to see!

yeh i know what you mean indy, and seeing the bumper flex and creak definately worrys you!
