i dont drive dangerously or speed exsesively

nah, how do you expect people to drive all the way to lands end. to drive to john o groats. Then drive home.

Some right money, time and petrol.

The Big fat tour is all i need.

The entry fee to the proper one is only £30K and you can speed.

This sums it up really:

Waste of time, money and petrol

I'd rather just drive to Germany and back....

Why is everyone being so negative and moaning about a waste of money/petrol? This sort of thing is commonplace in many owners clubs. Drive to Germany and back? Maybe, but wouldn't you like to see some of the sights your own country has to offer first? John O Groats to Lands End or vice versa would be good for giving you a good idea of what is actually in your home country, whether you spend time looking at attractions or not.

Give me a rough date and I'm sure I'd be up for it along with another few members from here. Whether you restrict it to Polos or not is your choice, but you'd get far more interest if you didn't. All-VAG would be a good start.

'Ring Bummer :p

I had an idea for doing this.

But when you get to lands end, you intentionally break your car/engine and call the RAC and get them to tow you to Jon o groats.

Obliviously there'd be at least two others doing this. One using the AA and the other Green Flag.

It would be a race with a large wager involed.

Id join a convoy for a hundred miles or so. When it passes down toward my way i'd drive up to a suitable point and join in until i have to bail out. With people joining and departing the convoy regularly,it'd make its way around the British mainland whilst constantly evolving.

But this Lands End to John O'Groats? The problem there is you've got the best part of 900 miles for the run itself. Then you have to double that, for wherever you are along the route you have to get to one end and back from the other. Thats over 1,700miles.

But then there's more, for those of us who dont live right on the route. I'm only a hundred miles or so in north Bucks, but that's still a good 1,800 miles. For some people its gonna be over 2k miles.

And for what? A motorway run? When an evolving convoy could travel smaller roads and pass through more scenic and urban routes?

Count me in a convoy jump, but no planned A2B such as LE-JOG.

 Don't they have a milage limit after which you have to pay £2ish a mile?

Cant help it haha!

And if I wanted to see more of my home country, I wouldn't be doing it by nearly 2'000 motorway miles...

Which is exactly why Germany beats it

Many more reasons to be going there than there is from one end of England to the other.

I'll stop banging on about the goodness of Germany now haha.

I wouldn't mind a run to Germany and back. Different route either way for scenery, with a blast on the barn'n'ring.

I would do somthing similar, but there is no way you would get me to pay. I have payed my road tax, so unless you have some private roads you will be going on, i will just follow on behind thanks.

And I must admit, I would want it organised by someone who I trust. Isnt this the bloke who crashed all sorts of cars, boasted about out running the cops in a clapped out beetle, and got a mk1 fiesta and totalled it??????

I'm all in favour, but £20 says this never happens. :D
