My 54 plate has had a few changes since i insured it. It now has a sound system (head unit, 6x9s, tweets, sub & amp), a debadged grill, black FK angel eye headlights, tinted windows and I'm going to buy some black rims soon. Do i need to declare any of these as modifications with my insurance, if so, will it make a lot of difference to the cost?

yes you need to insure everything the more they know the better tbh if you dont tell them then your insurance is void

certainly will. if your with a mod friendly insurer then its all good.

out of them 3 the main 1 you need to declare is the tinted windows

I've never declared any audio equipment, it might be classified differently to other mods, best to ask your insurer though. Definitely declare everything else you've mentioned though.

Chances are none of it will be covered even though it's declared. Any payout will be for standard parts.

Normally Audio equipment has a limit, Think my limit is £600 before i have to declare.

Only declare them if they have the option to declare them on the quotation page.

Also, some insurers only need you to declare BHP increasing mods.

if they dont have a section for modifications then they may not support them or if they do they might use a different section of there insurance company you really should declare everything. i did my insurance with admiral and the extra cost for the modifications was less than £100 and thats with a payout if the car gets stolen even though I'm only TPFT

i too have a 54 reg blank 9n, everything i have modded has been declared. if you dont and it gets nicked they'll screw you over and you wont get a penny. mines lowered, wheels and everything else, think my premium worked out cheaper :)

try brentacre if your over 19 with 1 yrs no claims. their really good :)

Yes, the state the car is in has changed compared to when you created the policy so you need to let them know

I had lights, wheels, uprated brakes all declared with Quinn last year and it didn't change the premium whatsoever - you can do it all on their website if you log in

Agreed...they'll use the slighest thing to declare your policy VOID.

best to find out if your insurance is ok with you putting certain parts on before actually buying them to find out they're not best pleased

The quinn direct login never ever works for me. I thought maybe i didn't put the password i thought i had in so i clicked 'forgot my password' and they sent me a new 'Login' which i have put as both usernam and password and nothing ever works. wtf
