'97 6N1 inner CV joints

Featured Replies

Long story short, my driver's side inner CV joint has gone bad and I'm looking for the cheapest way to replace it. I have the Haynes manual but for the inner joints it just tells me that I need a bunch of special tools and a hydraulic press to do the job and that I should just take it to a mechanic. I'm a student so at the moment I have a lot of spare time and not much money so I'm trying to avoid taking it to a mechanic if I can help it. Has anybody here done this job? If so could you give me an idea of how much trouble it will be? Cheers. :-)

it's an mk4, just buy a new shaft, for the effort and cost, sure someone on here will have one cheap.
