front needs more lows..no other way though as I'm already riding on bumpstops and even if i did do coilovers i would still be on the bump stops...i need shorter shocks and to cut the shock housing down..then lower the steering arm bits.....

gna wack the lump from the jetta in it....my 30bhp isnt cutting it...and even if i did keep the engine i would ahve to put a 5 speed box on..

so in the next few weeks it will be running

fully rebuilt 1,6 aee

1.0 flyweel and clutch assembly

mk3 golf 1.4 abd box

4-branch manifld

bike carbs

mk2 ingnition system

have all the part so just have to fit them all...think i may get started at the weekend and try get the aee all runniing in the jetta so i can bolt it all straight in..

Firstly, This looks ace I want to give mine some TLC now.

As I've already said I don't know how you can run so low and I think the stance looks pretty dam good. The roof of a bready actually rakes back which fools the eye into thinking it's reverse rake. My 60/40 kit has to be 40 at the back otherwise it looks reversed, I'm considering lowering caps on the front to get it better stance wise.

As for engines I like the idea of having a standard 1.3 lump of the period but getting more out of it but wouldn't want to go for twin carbs (not in the know enough) hence my weber DMTR twin choke and GK inlet but thats from a daily driver point of view.

I appreciate the 1.1 is going to have to be upgraded ( they are reliable from my experience). What ever you do make it reliable. I have much more time for people like Mikeymk amongst others who clearly see their conversions through and actually drive them daily.

thankss..stance isnt to bad need the front down a little more i think...the wheels sit pretty damn well tbh..and I'm not running spacers or anything..13x6 et13....

yeah...basically in the long run it will ahve its little 1.1 standard engine bcak in as the 1.6 is for my mk1 jetta...I've already rebuilt it all and yesterday picked up a already jetted and complete bike carb set up for the 1,6 8v aee.....so exactly what i require..

it will be going in..just finding time...i would like to get the engine all runngin in my jetta so i can just unbolt it then drop it straight in the polo all in the same day...sounds simple..hah..going to get some gasket paper and bits and pieces tomorrow and bolt the carbs on the aee...if all works well then this weeknd may begin the swap...

yeah i know what you mean about the daily thing...i dont rearlly have much use for a car though..use the works van alot...but i does need to be nice and reliable..carnt go work with a gk and a webber.has a gk and dmtr on my old mk2 1.3 golf...never has any problems and was excellent on fuel too and gave alot better power and performance...

see what happens..

picked a little somthing up on the way back from the rr day...well i say in the way back a extre 100miles out of the way..lol

stripped it all done and had a sneeky peak...

wasnt happy atall with the standard of the manifold.......had nasty lips..so out came the file to make it nice and smooth..:).

just ahve to polish the inside now for a smooth air flow...

then removed the old rubber mounts as i wasnt happy with them...they would ahve worked..but mehh..

got some silcone hose and put that on instead and the manifold slides nicely right up to the face of the carbs...so shouldnt be any nasty air flow changes..nice and smooth flow of air...

then stripped apart the sir filter and cleaned that all out..was quite dusty..might give it a wash in water and get some new air filter oil.

50hp is right, Early GL hatchbacks have the 1093cc HB engine which has 50hp, so you've lost none!

haynes says HB engine has 55bhp...:/

shit dude didn't realise the manifold was that badly welded! didn't really look at them that closely when I got them as I had already changed my mind. Hope you're still happy with them mate?. love this breddy; so clean and will be mental with the new engine and carbs nice one.

yeah should be areete...gna go to a little firm tomorrow and get em to put a little weld arround the tubes..for abit of strenght..
