After a bit of wheelin and dealin , ended up with my current ride , a modded 525ise , for free with £400 cash on top.I bought and swapped and sold cars to get there though,.

Really? I can believe the cooling, but getting cold air to the carb? The airflow will be going over the bonnet, thus over the carb (I thaught mk3's were Injected but nevermind), so how can it draw any cold air in? If anything it will be sucking the warm air in which is being forced out the back of the bonnet, presuming the air intake is directly above the carb/throttle body, and not in the standard position.

i think that's called the placebo effect mate, how would having the back of the bonnet lifted slightly get any air in to your engine bay while driving? also what air filter were you running? i know that standard ones get the air from near the drivers head light not the back of the bonnet, and even if you had some kind of panel filter on it its still only going to be collecting warm air from inside the bay. i also fail to see how an inch of lift on the rear of the bonnet would help the radiator work any more efficiently, after all this is what cools your engine.

I once got an old red breadvan for free,it sat in this girls garden for a couple of years & had a large dent in the drivers door. So i knocked on her door & her mum said it had been hit & the insurance had paid out & her daughter had bought another car,if i can get it out of her bloody garden i can have it. Took a battery round & it started !!! Drove it home,bout 4 miles of country lanes late at night as i was'nt legal,cough cough lol, went to scrap yard & got a new door,same colour for £30,stuck two tyres on,straight through M.O.T ! It was a small 1.0l 4 speed model,i thrashed it about for 3 yrs & sold it on for £300,the lad i sold it too had it a few more years before he wrote it off,superb little motor!

who cares if it looked shit that was a 1.05lt that did 100 mph and only had a k&n filter on

iv never ever had 100mph out of any 1.05lt polo lol most they usually manage is about 80-90mph

i paid 150 for this (campaign edition GTI) then sold the p-slot's off it for 140 so the car only owed me a tenner

then swapped it for this (16v)

swapped that for this (VR6)

then sold that for 650 as it was running low on mot, can't complain at 640 pounds profit and got to rag the balls off some of vw's finest... and the vr6

you think that a 1 inch gap at the back of the bonnet will make any difference to an engine that isn't designed to be cooled by air?

I paid £200 pound for a Renault 5 1.7 Monoco which traded in on the scrappage scheme to get £2500 of a new car.

I loved it, but it kept over heating, paint had peeled off due to it overheating so much and many other things going wrong with it.

Would love another one tho!

FREE = 95 Kia Pride LX 1.4 MPI with a AMR500 charger on it, place i got it off were going to scrap it as it had been left after failing an MOT on a very, Very long list (something like 4 pages). They didnt have a clue about it but were going to scrap it as the owner didnt want it back and had given them the V5, so filled that in.

The garage said it had "fucked" rear bearings, 10 mins later and a rubber mallet saw the actual cause fixed, a jammed rear brake. had it re-tested and failed on a hole in the drivers footwell, shite brakes and a hairline crack running across the subframe, hence 4 pages detailing linked faults) engine got re shelled (2nd cheapest car £50 and only 3k on the clock) and was bloody rapid, would blast past most things but you always had this feeling you were going to die horribly in a KIA

Came to a sad end one day on the track, doing over a ton and the charger failed, sending bits of metal into and through the engine, embedded a piece of the scroll in the tarmac. :(

As for me, my old mini cost £150 and mk2 golf £120

Both sold for more then £200 profit. Spent abit on the mini, new bumpers, tyres, floorpan, lights and other bits but still wasn't bad.

i took a vauxhall nova 1.3 sr of someones drive way and they gave me £25 for doing it, then i autocrossed it for 2years and then spriped it for spares and go about £500ish

then i got a pug 106 r reg 1.1 for £75 spent £100 for all new brakes and a tyre M.O.Td it and sold for £795 whata win
