i did ask before i bought it if i would need one but someone told me no, but i do need one. the plug that goes into the back of my new unit will not fit in so i guess i need some kind of adaptor? anyone know where i can get one or which one i need? thanks

you do not need an iso adapter

maybe you have got an aftermarket loom still plugged into the loom

pull it out and see if there is

if so un plug it and plug your new h/u in

i dont understand, I've unplugged my old unit now I've got some cables coming out of my centre console and the cables coming out wont fit into my unit

right the reason you cannot plug it in is you appear to have lost the loom for the stereo this is required for the stereo to work without it the stereo is useless

i take it from the picture the stereo is some far eastern dvd h/u

ermm i dont know it was a christmas present :\ and i havnt had the car long so whoever had it before me must have lost that thing you said lol.

is there anything i can do ?

not really i'm afraid can you not contact the person it was bought from to see if they still have the loom in their car or sitting around

what make is the stereo as i may be able to source one depending on the brand

if not then its a new stereo or having a load of cables hardwired to the circuit board

you deffo need the loom that comes with the h/u mate.this will have the correct plugs at one end

to fit into your h/u and some other plugs at the other end that will plug into your cars wiring loom

if you put up the make and model somebody may have a spare.

but as it is new it is down to the supplier to send it to you or send it back for a full refund

your original stereo that was fitted to the car had iso connections on the back of it so the vw loom plugged straight into it

aftermarket stereos all have their own style plug but come with an iso on the end of it to plug it straight in

here you can clearly see that the big plug on the left is the iso which plugs into the car loom the other end has the dedcated kenwood smaller plug that plugs into the stereo

so you need the specific loom for your stereo

sorry but they cannot refuse a refund if the unit is faulty or there are parts missing

it is your legal right as a consumer as the item will never work without that loom

if they refuse to send you a replacement loom then contact ebay direct

it does say that they will exchange a faulty item (at the buyers cost of returning it)

just explain that you need to loom as it is meant to be supplied with it

i think they have sent a loom but i dont really know what a loom is, if there is one of those ISO adaper things you were talking about for this stereo i would buy one do you know where i could get one ?

no its not like that, there is no plugs that match the ones coming out of my car, if you look on that link and go down to the picture of the back of the player and there is loads of wires coming out with numbers explaining what the wires are for, thats all I've got. and another wire with a plug that i cant see fitting into anything and yellow blue red and black wires coming off it saying batt back ACC and GND

there is no pic of the wires however this may help

then its just a case of joining the wires together colour for colour

black -black = earth

red- red (use a male and female bullet for this one)= ignition live

yellow-yellow = permanent 12v+(put a male and female bullet on this aswell)

orange-orange = illumination

blue-blue = remote out to antenna

blue/white (if it has it ) leave this as this is the remote amp turn on for amplifiers if you fit them

white-white = front left speaker +

white/black -white/black = front left speaker -

grey-grey = front right speaker +

grey/black - grey/black = front right speaker -

green-green = rear left speaker +

green/black -green/black =rear left speaker -

purple - purple = rear right speaker +

purple/black - purple/black = rear right speaker -

you will have one wire left over for the handbrake this just needs to connect to the black earth wire
