I'm wanting a valver now and I can go through my dad, I have 1 years no claims and. I want to insure a 16v mk4 at 18

Bear in mind though, going through your dad is fronting and is technically illegal

I'm with quinn.. its expensive but my valver was my first car.. they will insure you.. at a push anyway :)

i got my own police with direct line at 18 for a valver at £1687 which was the cheapest

Directline means no mods until your 25 though (aimed at the OP).

Hi mate try brentacre they are a specialist insurance company, I got a mk3 1.9 tdi and I'm not long 19 with 1years ncd and I'm paying just a tad over a grand but that's only because I'm paying monthly, it would have been £900 if I paid it all at once. That with any mods as long it doesn't go over an agreed bhp (I guess the bhp allowence varies depending on the cars standard bhp for the car) as my car is naturally 90bhp and I'm not allowed to modify over 100bhp but that bits not a prob to me as I can't afford engine mods anyway! Lol but if I want to go over that limit then I'll let them know and they will add the extra amount spread over the monthly payments , and there literally like only 6 people in the company and they seem to like their dubs so that's always a plus!! Lol
