Go direct to people like avia etc and see what they want too. Even so, £3500 is a bit steep for tpft!

My first year was £1900 for TPFT

What size/year is your polo?

was paying 2200 on my 1.1 fiesta at 18 like tpft

That said, my second year only cost £900

Oh god please use the search feature, in fact, you probably don't even need to search, just browse the paperwork section and you will find hundreds of threads pretty much the same as this one.

I'm on £2300 (£194 per month) wid quin there a irish company quite cheep and iv got a 1.4 16v .... good luck getting quote give these a call..:)

Yeah quinn direct are good for young drivers, not too tight on mods and they give you good perks on basic policies like third party on other people's cars

Cheers pal, I actualy rang aviva and they want £7500.

It's a 1L 1992.

21, 1 crash, TPFF, 1.0 mk3 no mods, on a driveway £1600....

some people say its thier dads car and then get put on the insurance....beware with this you will get shafted if they find out its your car.

FOOK ME!!!

7.5k for a 1992 1L. :puke:

Try gocompare, moneysupermarket etc.

Yer when i found out i was 3rd party on other peoples cars i was well pleased a nice little perk there :)

In my experience price comparison sites are gash! Your much better ringing round and asking the companies yourself and basically just shop around, buy car mags there always small firms in them that will give you a good deal but I would also say just drive the car standard for a year that's what I did and it made it a hell of alot better for me!

I got ripped bein 3rd party as a named driver on 1lt mk3 polo £1400 direct line

passed test at 17, 1.2 p reg clio was 1200 with tesco TPFT

I'm 17, got a 1l mk3 polo 1994.. same as yours?? and I'm paying 1200 fully comp with churchill :D

polo 6n 1.0 2 years ncb 15000 miles a year lowered,manifold,wheels,induction kit. £650 tpft

1.4 8v no ncb 1300ish fully comp

I payed £1600 1st year 6N2 1.4 8v fully comp

You have to wait untill your a big boy

Thats crazy.

I was paying £900 on provisional, now TPFT in my own name and paying £500.

£1300 for me as owner driver TPFT on a 1L polo 1998, its a joke, renewal should be cheap though!

Hi,

I'm an oldie now (25) but when I was learning to drive at 17 the car was registered under my dad's name and I paid him to put me on his insurance as a primary named driver which was then about £200 a year instead of over £1000 for me to have my own policy. We did this through Direct Line and it stayed with that arrangement until I was 21. The good thing about Direct line is that you earn no claims discount (as long as you stay with them) as a named driver so by the time I was 21 I was only paying about £200 a year for my own fully comp insurance.

The downside is if you do have an accident that's your fault while your a named driver on a parent's insurance they will lose their no claims and you would be in big trouble so you need to drive like an old granny (but with lightning speed reactions) until you have your own policy (fortunately I never had an accident so this wasn't an issue)! It'll probably be more expensive than it was 8/9years ago but it'll be the cheapest way you can do it. The tricky part is selling the idea to your parents, my dad had the perk of using 'my' car whenever he needed it!

Hope this helps.

The above was for a 1.4 mk4 Polo

Why go fully comp on a car that cost your £500 to replace if you crash it? You'll loose your NCB by claiming, have to pay any excess, and after all that they will probably only pay out £100 once you've paid the excess of. Then come renewal time your policy is going to cost a shedload because you have a fault claim on it....

F/C is pointless if you don't have protected NCB, your young, or you have a cheap car.
