3 days and £70 later i picked the Steffans up from the refurbers [Rainbow Polishing in Oldbury - highly recommended]

really really pleased with the end result...as of yet, the centres are not painted as i haven't 110% made my mind up what colour there going.

so this is what they were like before i sent them away:

I may just give my wheels to them to do the lot, i cant be bothered to paint mine now haha!

they powder coat the wheels, not paint them...so I'm not sure on that one.

Nevermind, answered my own question by ringing them haha!

He said he could get them painted, but then when I mentions I already had the paint he was like nahhh they will only use stuff off there own suppliers.

Which is fair enough I supose, just means i gotta paint them haha.

May take them up there next month to get them done

its Smithys fault i got them done where i did...his suggestion lol.

i was dead fucking shocked at the price...i thought he ment £70 a wheel haha.

i was thinking that...but i was also thinking white maybe, colour code them to the car.

I feel sorry for you in a way lmao. Looking forward to painting my wheels, just not so much to getting them ready for paint. Too many fiddly gaps n whatnot.

nah man...to become a good painter, you need to be a great prepper.

and tbh, i really enjoy seeing a finished restoration, cause you stand back and think all the prep work has paid off.

Dont get me wrong, its all in the prep.

I had fun doing mine, took bloody hours though in that really hot weather we had haha. I almost passed out on one session at the garage.

Even though there are 2 or 3 places that arent as good as i wanted and they do really bug me when i notice them Another hour on the prep work would have seen them fixed but I wasent expecting the paint to show them up like it has.

I know what i would and wouldnt do next time now though so its all good for a 1st go.

You going to get into painting later on?

if your not happy with the prep work...you carry on until you are...thats one thing I've learnt.

IMO...for me to become a painter, i want to spend a few more years learning to prep properly until i pick up a paint gun.

70 quid to get the lips polished on 4 rims........yeh they have done a good job, but dayam it isnt that hard to do it yourself.

Dubmeister are the only company that sell them new...i rang them the other day and they said theyve never been asked before so they dont know anyone who sells them.

Wheel Whores is no help as I'm getting the "fake splits can fuck off" attitude.
