Hi folks. It's at times like this that I'm glad I know a good site like this one because I need some help!

Whilst unlocking my car yesterday the key turned way more than it normally does (in both directions) and it didn't unlock the door so I think the lock is knackered (probably due to weather). This meant I had to open the boot (because passenger side lock is always frozen solid) and reach in to open the back door which then allowed me to open the front door. I think the link between key barrel and locking mechanism is gone so i need to get in there to fix it.

Can anyone tell me how I get into the insides of the door? I need to remove the door cards so I had a quick look but I can't really see how I would get them off?

Any help is much appreciated.

Going from memory... (assuming you have a 6n, but id say its relatively similar for other models)

1) Screw off the doorpin

2)Pry off the triangular plastic cover behind the wingmirror.

3)Pry off the eletric mirror switch and disconnect it.

4)Remover the top black cover from the grab handle to expose three screws.

5) Remove theese screws.

6) Take the door card off, you may have to lift it to geet it over the metal door lock pin, but youll figure it out

both of my locks are buggered drivers side unlocks, and to lock it i have to use the passanger side

will be ordering parts and following your guide :-D

I need to change the ones on my mk3, boots fine but the drivers door is shit - have to shove the key in and turn it really fast in order for it to open, nobody else can do it!
