Mk2 Polo Coupe Restoration

Featured Replies

Just planning a resto job on the Mk2 Coupe but need a few questions answering:-

- Are the Mk2 PVC headrests the same as used in a Mk2 Golf?

- Also can you still get the rear hatch strut, the centre console and parcel shelf from VW or is it now obsolete? Otherwise, I'll need to put up a wanted ad.

- Do the doors have membranes behind the door panels...mine is letting water in.

-I don't know, depends on seat style or period maybe? think polo seats tend to be more slender?

-I doubt it but you'd be as well finding one in a scrappy probably same as mk3 as an option also. Parcel shelf I doubt it but again scrappy and mk3 ones fit. Phone up your local vw dealer and ask? if they do expect to pay! vw,gsf and euro car parts for engine/mechanical parts generally

-Yes the doors need full membranes otherwise expect wet footwells. Buy good plastic sheet and double sided tape and don't compromise on getting it sealed off.

Check the parts section on here and give all the faq sections a good route around. The answer is usually out there in some thread even on other forums. Use the search engine to. New parts for mk2's are getting thin on the ground but thats not the point for me as my car only cost me £90 to start off with. I've got parts from probably 15 other cars on mine.

Good luck
