funniest topic title ever.

Worn ignition components?

maybe hammering it off the rev limiter has eventually broken it..that is why you dont really hit the limiter.

i no pal lol just finished work and stoned lol

it has brand new leads on it, coil is ok, new hall sender, changed rotor arm for a decent one, new dizzy cap

might try some new plugs tomorow

its when you put you foot down you can feel it tryin to pull but its like sumthin is holding it back

i thought it was piston rings so changed them and found out the head gasket had gone and as soon as i started it it was exactly the same as before

cheers for the replys folks any help is muchly appriciated

ha ha ha that is what a rev limiter is for mate so you dont damage your engine tis why i dont have a chip in it and got told that by my lecturer at college when i was doin the mechanics course

and the problem is the revs dont even go any wer near the limiter it just sounds like a nova 1.3sr when you over rev it

plus it aint been to the limiter that ofter with this engine in the 1.05lt yer all the time ;)

yeah but for that time that the engine backs off from the limiter...it runs lean..keep doing it and its not going to do it any favours!

Got to admit, I'm with neil on this one.

like i said though the 1.05lt used to hit the limiter in every gear every were i drove and was fine and mi old polo with 167000 miles on the clock got abused even worse and that tuck it for years only ever had one problem and that was the coil pack

this 1.3lt engine has NOT sniffed hitting the rev limiter as its bein run in and is broken work that out

neil aint a mechanic sorry neil but its true

even the head mechanic at haysldens who is one of my good pals dont have a clue what is wrong with the polo

my mate works at hayseldens, who do you know?

and what do you mean am not a mechanic...am a aircraft technician. So that means i might be slightly mechanically minded...

tis why i dont have a chip in it and got told that by my lecturer at college when i was doin the mechanics course

you are cam must b well sik to b makin powerz at 6k :retard:

What do you mean not hitting the limiter? Is it bogging down before then? As has been said above, if you bounce it off the limiter in every gear I'm not surprised It's shagged. If you're sure it's not ignition issues then maybe move onto fuelling?

dunno why its doing it but just wanna say the max power is way below the rev limiter anyways so whats the point revving it so high :?

coz itz kool innit blud 2 b going down da street wiv it bangin off da limita

Its fucked, the engine may not of had the best of lifes then it gets in the hands of colin mcrae siting off the limiter every time a moped over takes or you see some fat bird on the path, the engine is not going to last very long is it colin

lolz at this thread, seriously banging it of the rev limited aint going to help why would any one want to do it, i feel more for your gearbox atm...

It runs lean... Whacking the spark out and leaving the fuel in makes completly the opposite.

Gaz- I suggest you start with your cam timing

i was going to say as above and sounds like a timing issue, maybe jumped a tooth.

Wait for next months post then "Why's my catalytic convertor fooked?"

it dont have one pal its got a 4 branch and full strait through pipe

and yes it is bogging down before it goes any were near the red around 3000 rpm ideal for these icy roads but not good when pulling out of junctions lol

and why dont people read things properly THIS engine has not touched the rev limiter since i have ad it in the car

the engine has just had a full rebuild piston rings bearings new oil pump need water pump ect

and yoof thanks but av just checked the cam timing and both the marks on the crank and cam are perfectly lined up

ignition timing is spot on just leaves fueling could it be to do with the 1.05lt fuel pump still on their or are they all the same?

would strip the injector and throttle body down but whats the point when iv got a set of bike carbs just waiting for a inlet manifold for them

gaz

g40 fuel pumps are different.

My money's on it being a fuelling issue.

yer mine too pal iv got a silly feeling the injector may be blocked as its a second hand item and i avnt a clue weather they had ran their car out of fuel or not lol

so the 1.05lt and the 1.3lt gt fuel pumps are the same then?

thats another thing eliminated then ;)

Dodgy gap in a plug or a duff HT lead for starters...

ht leads are brand new about a month ago

g40 and gt pumps i think there diffrent to other one 1.3s and 1.0 i think.

So its leaning out top end of the revs. Because the pump cant cope?

I'm sure someone knows on here
