Probably something in the region of 4k in the 5 years i've owned my G40...

I bet most people on here with a g40 will have spent alot!

I've spent around 4k on mine since I've had it

Quite easy on a G40 tbh, considering they need to be well maintained to keep them running smoothly.

Dread to think how much money is in my Lupo. Last time I worked it out it was going onto 5 figures.

5 figures? how much you phone salesmen get paid? :lol:

Without speaking to my accountant:

Car - £2200

wheels - £300

odd bits n bobs of bodywork - £90

Eaton kit + whatever else i got - £2000

misc parts needed when above was fitted - £1000

fitting - £ too much - £1600?

bucket seats - £400

gauges - £70

and theres still more to spend yet to get it how i want it so £7660 without a remap but I'm sure I've missed some bits out.

Car = £3000

Interior = £2000

Wheels and Spacer = £650

Bodywork = £1200

Rear Bumper = £100

Coilovers = £200

polio dude how old are you?? it wont be anywhere near £3500 to get you insured. keep shoppin round, if its too high, wait a month then shop around again, bullshit about where its parked and alarms etc., my car is as 'safe' as thought knox as far as my insureres know... try putting a lass on it (mine went down £200 when i put the bird on) if you really try you'll get insured for a grand.

Am only 17 chap, i put it in as garaged, with a clifford avantguard alarm, both parents and a grandparent as named drivers, totally standard, i dont exactly live in Beirut either, i dont get insurance companys :(

Saying that though, i got a 2.400 quote a while ago, haven't been able to get anywhere near since :/

I had a g40 bought for 1300, spent 100 quid on samco hoses, sold it about 5 months later for 2.3.

woop woop

You regret selling it though don't you :-p and you sold it cause you knew what was coming... Bottler :doubt:

:lol:

well i knew fook all about cars then, bar the fact that it was rapid, looked sweet and had a remote control engine start which was hella pimp

but the new owner found a cracked chassis leg, hole in the intercooler and head cracked in two places, so i dont regret selling it (i dont regret shit anyway) cos i wouldnt have ended up with two mk1 golfs otherwise which ended up sending me down the road of taking cars apart, fixing them, breaking them.

good thing is tho after that, the only time my garage saw a garage was the mot. labour is a killer and with the amount of work I've done on cars in the last 4 years my garage bills would easily have been 5k+

i do miss the gfotty tho, cos it was a lush colour and super clean, but i couldnt afford the maintainance it needed including a charger rebuild fo 500 notes

lets have an ad up

car:3,500

bodywork:200

stereo system: 300

fair few set of wheels: 1,000

interior:1,400

Engine Conversion(exhaust brakes everything):5000

remap:400

11,800

holly shit hahah

Not quite - i bought a black '99 Fiat Seicento 1.1 Sporting in '02 for £1,950. It had 24k miles and i sold it about a year later with 32k miles - then sold it for £2,600. It paid me its servicing,MoT,insurance and tax just to drive it.

i get funny looks @ VW if i tell them i want parts for a G40!

Think the GT was £300 last time I bought it.

Front suspension's been rebuilt with parts I had lying round, apart from getting buttraped £15 for a track rod end.

Back brakes have been rebuilt with parts I had lying round. Had to drop £25 for a pair of wheel cylinders.

Brake cleaner and fuid was about a fiver.

Wing mirror came in a bundle of parts that I sold the rest of, so was effectively free.

Windscreen came from a car I broke.

Wheels and tyres came off my other car.

Swapped some bits for the Weichers bar.

Think I rolled lucky on the GED bar, but I can't remember what it was.

Bulbs and brake slide bolt seals came out of a golf my brother was scrapping.

If you do it right, this hobby doesn't have to cost much, but you have to be prepared to play the waiting game.
