How it looks is irrelevant. It's the principle of it; it is all about motorsport.

It is not VW getting involved, but it is a team using a VW Golf as their car. Still something to care about though, gonna be supporting them all the way, along with Turks and Collard!

I was going to say it's not Volkswagen as they got rid of works teams in BTCC ages ago.

I guess it's an independent team, just one car running? I guess it's something but to be honest any car that is eligible can be brought in by an independent.

Yer it is being run by AmD tuning in Essex, who are VAG tuning specialists. They believe that by using a Golf it will create more PR coverage for their organisation- rather than using a Seat that they were considering; which would be 'just another Seat'

They say that as this is an introductory season they will only be able to field one car for the moment, but hopefully in the future they can expand...

Also, they haven't got rid of works teams, Vauxhall were the only one this season and they have now pulled out. Works teams have got rid of themselves lol.

I'm talking about back in the 1990s when Audi, Renault, Volvo, Ford, Vauxhall, Honda and others were all in it. BTCC thought it was becoming too money-driven and therefore they scaled it down to what it's like now.

i work for AmD the golfs in for big changes looks wise but its all secret lol :ninja:

I think that debaged and smooth would go down a treat LOL

Fat kid in the school run, TBH

Having been brought up on the 1990's glory days, I really dislike the use of hatchbacks in the BTCC.

What, you remember when near one-ton cars used to consist of Sierra Cosworths and Rover SDi's?

Get with the silicone N-Cap era,dude.. Oh i forget - you're supporting it already.

ooh i like =] when does the season begin? any car details???

Nope, I'm referring to the Super Touring era.

Although I do happen to remember the last days of Group-A.

I suppose that's a valid point, is supposed to be saloons really. But I guess they realised a Jetta wouldn't have had such a following as this will most likely create!

-Yeah tourers isn't what it used to be, but this season was still brilliant!

Yeah, the Cavaliers,Renault 19 Chamade (sp),MK1 Primeras,E36 4cyl,MK1 Mondeos and even the 850 estates contributed to that legendary era.
