a g60 in a mk2 is just about right. the trouble with the VR is too much weight at the front.

really? i didn't find the mk2 Vr all that, sounded good and went ok but that was it really, this was in a rallye like but doubt that would of made a great deal of difference?

G60's are lame

They're awesome fun for the money, the noise is great and they really do pull.

The last one had a magnex, a six branch and a pipercross induction thing, not to forget the relentless kicking the crap out of it every single given chance.

Mine'll be 9A now, seems there isn't much/any difference apart from the 9A being a shorter block therefore making fitting 'normal' mk2 16v 4 branches possible... and my 40's unless i grab a set of 45's to get more power out of it

i thought the a9 wasn't much different to the kr in terms of performance?

45's on a 16v sound the mutts nut, really regret selling my set up now, would of been sweet in the mk1

on paper, the 9a is 150 horsies and the kr is 139.

however, my mate has a caddy and we've built a KR for it which should have some fun poke to it.

P & P head with heavy duty valve springs off my old 16V.

schricks, vernier, k star, naturally a four branch (conversion manifold) mk1 GTI oil cooler.

Should kick out something decent.

tbh a bike carbed gt (if set up properly) will be quicker than an 8v gti. i've never owned either car but i've heard mk2s are lots of fun!

Aparently there isn't actually a difference in stroke odd. The block of the ABF is taller though.

i'm not sure how true this is but i was told that the ABF was detuned because the GTI it came in was quicker than VW's flag ship hatch back, the VR6?

not standard, no. They're also 150ish officially. But they can be upto 170 easily

Load of bollox. Same myth as 8vs having more low down torgue then a 16v.

Well my old one died due to my ass kicking and oil starvation.

Hopefully the new bottom end is all good and it only cost £50 - What could you replace on a G40 for that!

kr's are normally £100 for the whole engine.

Theres been stock ABFs getting like 163bhp, its weird

The one that came in my cordoba i had last year first rolling roaded at 137bhp, then i drilled the airbox and put a K&N pannel filter in and it rolling roaded 156bhp, cheapest 19bhp ever?
