Hi everyone... sorry to burst in here and ask a question straight out! I'm Rob, I don't own a Polo and I've actually come over here from the Hilux Pickup Owners Club, but my girlfriend is having some problems with her standard 52 plate Polo.

I've got it at mine at the moment to have a look and see if I can figure out what's up, got it up on axle stands but can't see anything a miss underneath.

Basically when turning corners whilst moving there's a knocking/clunking sound coming from the front somewhere. It doesn't happen all the time, but is definitely getting more persistant and seems louder than it was. I'm thinking something along the lines of CVs but was wondering if any of you Polo people can point me in the right kind of direction... I'm pretty novice at it all but will give anything a go. Also, is there a specialist place on the web that you guys get parts from regularly?

I'd agree on CV joint on the face of it. Get someone to drive a circle slowly round you while you watch and listen. A CV joint will clunk in time with the wheel, and generally be worse when the worn one is on the inside of the turning circle.

Thanks for the reply, yeah the clunking does slow down when the wheels slow down. It clunks on both sides but only the inner one whichever way the car turns so I'd imagine it'd be best to do both at the same time. Will take a look at those websites thanks very much. Rob
