hpi

Featured Replies

i've just brough a car, after owning it for a couple of months i have decided to sell it, i went to a garage to see if they wanted it, they looked around it, then decided to do a check on it, I'm the 2nd owner of it and paid cash for it, they did a hpi check and said it still has finance on it, i was a bit shock as like i said paid cash, what i need to know is who to contact about updating the hpi?, I did phone up the finance company and the said the finance account is close, so no money is owed on the car, thank god, i just need to find out who to contact to update the system, coz if anybody does a hpi check they will think it still has finance outstanding but it doesn't. :-(

thanx very much

I'm not sure if theres a procedure for this, but i would ask the finance company to update HPI

i think there is a special duty of care to inform HPI of finance agreements, so it should follow that its their obligation to update when the account is closed

either that or contact HPI and inform them that the finance account on the vehicle you own is closed and to update the system, as its causing you trouble when selling

hope this helps

thank u very much, i will give it ago, its really bad that they haven't updated the details, i know i should of done a hpi check but its a lesson learnt to myself always check b4 u buy, i will let u know how i get on, cheers very much :-)
