Ok, been wanting to get a thread up since the day I got this car!!! But due to moving house it screwed with my internet and haven't been able too, till now :-D!!!

Well I got the car from a dude not too far away in July/august time. I drove it as a daily for couple months then when I found a suitable daily in form of a mk3 GT and the derby went in the garage to be become my project!!!

She was a 1.3 4speed about 30,000 on the clock and I am the 4th owner!! All 4 arches have been rolled and the rears flared, Whole car is in primer. Had perfect ride height but was running on cut springs and lowering top caps too . . . . . . it knocked, creaked and banged like hell!! (When jacked up the springs were not compressed and could move about lol)

Well this car is going be built by my self with help from friends, may do some the body work but will be body shop for few things/ideas I got!!! All so dont expect fast updates as I dont have much funds, I am saving atm for the engine!!

PLANS:

AFH 1.4 16V On bike carbs!!!

Coilovers

Up rated anti roll bar/mounts and all bushes!

Coolant rad with filler (so I loss the reservoir bottle)

Bigger front brakes

Rear disc conversion

G40 rear axle with some camber shims

Servo conversion/remote servo

Some nice small, fat split rims (havnt decided yet)

Paint!! (Thinking a nice white atm!!)

A black roof lining

Keeping standard interior

Would like an original radio for display then cd player in glove box with hidden speakers

Washer bottle in boot

Relocate battery to boot

Small bumpers (Chrome ones)

Maybe a smaller front splitter (dont like look of the big one with the small bumpers)

Well I guess now I get some work in progress pics up!! So far I have just been going down most Saturdays stripping the car down and just simply getting it back to a bare rolling shell! Got it back on standard suspension, (to make it easier to work on).

Cut springs with lowering top caps!!!

Found few more things on the way as well. Like the n/s seal has been replaced, and not too well.

Also found the head lamps are from a MK2 polo and dont fit properly. And some one made these to get them to fit. (They were pointing at the floor, I couldnt see s**t)

Also found a bit of a rust hole on the inner arch. So I cut it out, got a little bigger the more I poked it lol!

Took the splitter off and the wings to find the front panel has been repaired!

Other than that its all good :-D haven't worked on her for a while now as just to danm cold!! But I have got a new dash off some dude on here, same style just a lower spec one all black. And a set on mk1 head lights!

Plan to get the rest the windows out when I can get a helping hand and when it warms up!!! Just saving up and selling all the junk I dont need to get me money for the engine!! Then ill get it mock mounted and start working on the engine bay!!

just word of warning, you won't be able to fit a charger on your car without hacking the front panel apart. Mine used to be rotrex charged to get round this, but now mine is going turbo blown :-)

Should be good this with them plans. With the g40 engine are you going to be running a mk2 g40 intercooler? I'm doing the same conversion on my mk2 and looking to running standard size and if a few people are interested might call around and arrange a group buy. Maybe in a few months time.

Nice project, atleast the outside bodywork is sorted.

Yea i havnt totally read up on the conversion just yet but yea i saw that the front panel gotta be cut up.

As for the intercooler i was thinking on drilling some holes where the plate would sit (with small bumper) and mounting it behind there?? dunno if will defo work was just an idea rele!

As for body work wise i thinking of flaring the fronts just alittle, just cos the front archs are squared off and the rears rounded. kinda want it to match.

Got the fuel tank out today after work! then spent some time spraying up my wheels for my gt daily :-D!!!

looks like a good project, however if your springs fall out their seats like this when its jacked up during the MOT, you'll fail.

PhilJ is selling some shorter dampers in the for sale section at the moment.

lol yea i know there gone now anyways going to go for some coilys :-D

Tis all pritty clean which is good!! this wont be going back in as going put fuel cell in the boot! so lots room to hind something i guess

Got a small amount saved up now so hopefully be getting the engine in couple months!!! had a friend come check out this week end to do some welding!!! but my genny is too small so going arrange a date soon to get it down to his house to wled it for me!!!

UPDATE:

No work on the derby this week end I'm afraid, had to sort out the daily!!!

1) Exhaust welded up (although still got slight blow!!)

2) New brake pipe made up with new flexy hose!!!
