I might email the dude see if he can send me some pics!!

Hi mate,

This is my old car! :-D And in that pic above......I'm the one in the blue t-shirt! 8-)

I bought it a number of years ago, totally standard from an old chap - he was just too old to drive anymore! :-( Got it for a right bargain but it needed quite a bit of work doing to it. I must admit, I bodged some of the bodywork with fibreglass but everything was safe and sound mechanically - I was just going for looks rather than anything else! :? Fitted a PhilJ lowering kit and lowering caps BUT IT WAS NOT ME WHO CUT THE SPRINGS!:x

Bought the Mattigs from German Ebay, refurbed them and fitted them with some slightly stretched tyres. Also sourced the early grille from German Ebay.

Lots of memories with this car and was gutted to have to sell it......especially for the bargain price I let it go for! :-(

Here's a couple of pics from the Ebay advert when I originally bought it:

And one or two outside my house once I had fitted the wheels and early grille:

Loads more pics but as I said on the MK1 forum mate......too many to post so perhaps send me an e-mail address to send them to.

Other than that mate - looking good! 8-)

Cheers,

Chris.

Also got all doors off, rear beam n suspention and rest the brake lines to the back the car!!! Then went crazy with the angle ginder loosing lots little bits in the bay and cutting all other bits rust out, found another hole on the o/s/f seal!! Got picture of the o/s/r arch which has been plated up and some fiber glass too! soon i get my die grinder its coming off see what its hiding!! IMG_4561.jpg

IMG_4559.jpg

I Also decided on a change of engin plan! G40 is proving too hard to get hold off and just too out my price range!! so i am torn between my next decisions!!!

16V 1.4 DOHC on set of bike carbs is my most favoured one!! or my mate trying get me to put 1.8 or 2.0l from golf and twin 40 it! but i dunno how i would mount the 2.0l as the golf runs a subframe and polo obviously dont!

Nice project, Welding needed doesn't look too bad. I can't wait to start welding my Golf, bloody Uni lol.

Just posted a more conservative engine choice for it in your other thread but I suppose you've got your lovely GT for more standard daily driving.

Yea just read it :-) your plans sound good, and prob what i woulda done if a got a standered derby or polo but seen as this been messed with and needs work i wanna do a nice job of it!! I'm more feeling the 1.4 16v on bike carbs atm!!

Cheers about the GT she ok, i seriously need to get an exhuast sorted though!! its fooked from being soo low, and i wleded it up but just needs a proppa system on there to sort it!!!
