Hi everyone.

I've just had a new engine put in my 6n - a replacement 1.0, which runs really well apart from the idle which hunts between about 600 and 1100 rpm. I'm going to take it up with the garage that fitted it though as they're mates it would be good to help them by seeing if anyone else has had the problem and what caused it. Any ideas? The engine is a 2nd hand 30000 miler

try resetting the throttle body adaption using vag-com

sounds like ignition timing is set wrong

if so slightly loosen off the 2 bolt holding the dizzy in place and with the engine ticking over twist it till the hunting stops.

Sorted itself out, running fine now! The only problem is that the brakes are so worn that the mechanic was reluctant to let me have my car so I can't go fast at all :( Hurry up CRN brakes!!! Lol took some stunning pics of my car earlier too, will have to post them up

Seems my car is having the hunting issue again! :( it's wierd, it literally only just stops itself from cutting out by upping the revs, then they drop again so it's just constantly up and down. Apparently the TB control learns as you drive but it doesn't seem to be... Idle control valve? It's going back to the garage on saturday anyway but it'd be good to have an idea what it is

I have a similar problem where the engine in my 1.0 polo is going constantly from 1000-1500rpm. It stopped for a couple of days and then started doing it again. Have read somewhere that the ECU resets when the battery is disconnected for about 30mins. Hasn't worked for me. But there you go.
