Sub/Amp Wiring Kit

Featured Replies

I'm planning on buying these subs, does anyone know which wiring kit I will need for it?

http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-...eal_p-23125.htm

also the amp is 1200 watts and my friend told me not to run the subs at the full 1200 watts because it can mess up the amp, is this true?

the 1200w rating on the amp is max power which is a crap measurement as max power can be anything up to 8 times the amps true rms /continuous power

you really need an amp that will do at least 800 rms at 2 ohm bridged

until you know what amp you are definitely going to get i would at least recommend an 8awg wiring kit

Thats the amp that comes with the subs already.. I thought that would be fine? will it be loud enough? so I need an 8awg wiring kit for that current amp?

it would be fine, but you wont get a 100% from the subs, as the amp is not powerfull enough to run both of them, best thing to do, is buy a better amp, 3000watts or another amp like the one supplied. the best place to look for good deals is www.caraudiosecurity.co.uk, theyl give you the subs + amp+ sub box and wiring kit

Thanks I just checked some subs out at car audio security and I liked this one

http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/p...ts_id/5526.html

Is that better than the one in the first post?

also I'm going to buy these on amazon but they dont have them in one complete package, they have them all seperatley, so would it be ok if i got them like this

2 x these:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/JBL-GTO1202D-subwo...6172&sr=8-1

1 x this

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Jbl-GTO4000-4-Chan...6252&sr=1-1

1 x this

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Double-Carpeted-Sp...mp;sr=1-1-fkmr0

?

it all depends what your looking for, if you want killer tight base your looking to buy a vibe which are one of the best brands, but jbl aint bad either. I'm sure its cheeper to just buy it as a package isnt it???and plus you havnt looked at a wiring kit on amazon

I have looked for the wiring kit on there but they dont have it, is there an equivalent wiring kit that would work? or should I just buy the wiring kit from car audio security seperately?

Its cheaper for me on amazon because I have vouchers on there.

you cannot run the 2 subs off that amp it is not designed to run at 2 ohm as it would with those subs and it is only 150 rms

look at this

the subs are 300 rms each so you would need an amp that does at least 600rms at 2 ohm to run the subs nicely

something along these lines will work nicely

http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/p...ts_id/8040.html

also the wiring kit PC4-27 is not 8awg but 10awg so it is smaller

So the amp that comes with this:

http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/p...ts_id/5526.html

will that not work? or would I need to set it to around 1000 watts instead of the 1200?

how many watts is the amp that comes with it? i assumed it was 4000, so it could handle it.

which one of these is better:

either this pioneer one:

http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-...eal_p-23125.htm

or this

http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/p...ts_id/5526.html

The pioneer one is more expensive, but which one is actually better?, has the pioneer one got better performance? why is that one more expensive?

Edited by thedj

both of those packages are not really suitable

tell me your budget and i will see what i can find

ignore stupid ratings like 4000watts it will not be

for example check out the price of a REAL 3000 watt rms amp

http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/p...s_id/11800.html as you can see it has a max power rating of 5000 but is actually 3000rms

and this one says 6000 max 3000 rms

http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/p...s_id/10590.html

the juice amp is really poor quality

If I get this one: http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/p...ts_id/5526.html

whats the highest watts that I will be able to play at with the amp that comes with it? 1000 watts?

I just need subs that will play at 1000 - 1200 watts minimum. If these will do the job then its ok. would these be able to do that?

would the pioneer one be able to do that? http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-...eal_p-23125.htm

stop going on about 1000 watts that amp WILL not do it is does 2x 50 rms and 1x150 rms at 4 ohms

plus it will NOT run 2 subs

now you are saying you want 2 subs that will handle 1000 watts each its not going to happen with either of those packages

this package is better

http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/p...s_id/11014.html

you need to get an amp that is more powerful than the subs (or as close as is possible) as it is very easy to blow them up by underpowering

so again as i said before if you have 2 subs that are 300 rms each thats a total rms of 600 (peak can be anything up to 4800watts if that makes you feel better)

so you NEED an amp that will do AT LEAST 6-700 watts rms (thats a peak of 5600watts)

If i get the pioneer one the amp is 1200 watts so each speaker will play 600 watts each, so it will end up giving 1200 watts in total right?

NO the amp is 1200 watts max IGNORE max power it is a rubbish power rating

that amp will do no more than 150-200 rms at a 4 ohm load

you need an amp that will do 6-700 rms at least at a 2 ohm load

could you find me an amp that would do that on http://www.amazon.co.uk?

peak power if you want to know will be around the 1600 watt mark

Do you know which wiring kit I will need to get for that?

you need a minimum of an 8awg wiring kit

the autoleads part number is PC4-25

the pc4-27 is no good as that is 10awg

any 8awg kit will work can supply you a complete kit for £30 delivered

and this kit uses higher quality cables than autoleads

yes thats everything you will need
