1987 VW MK1 Caddy.... Resto begins!

Featured Replies

Finally got my self a caddy now :) after months of wanting one , this came up forsale cheep and just down the road from me :)

Needs a bit of work but it is 24 years old so its to be expecteced!

Model:Mk1 Caddy

Engine:1.6d

Suspension: flipped rear axel and iv been told 50mm on front unsure of this soon to be coilovers

Brakes:standard

Colour: Mars Red apparanly a rare colour for a caddy?

Wheels and Tyres:17" momo, and orignal steels, with prellie tyres all round

Exterior Styling: checkerplate bed, soon to be taken out and be re-done proper bully net on rear, some plonker checkerplated the rear tailgate :bh

Interior Styling: gti interior, no carpet but came with mk1 golf gti carpets

ICE and Security: kenwood 10 disc changer, remote locking

Comments: Its a 1986 mk1 caddy, needs a new passanger side wing totally rusted thu, the bit at the windscreen sorting but within time will be done, i know a good welder that I'm hoping will do that bit for me,

MOT'd till end of feb, no tax

Future plans: Unsure yet, but sorting the bodywork out is main thing and then a respray, iv sourced a matching red interior with seats door cards and carpet :td

You can wait a few more days ;)

are you sure that axle has been flipped? when my mate did his it sat almost exactly the same as your arch gap on the back but he had 13's with stretched tires :?

looks like a good base but that rot around the screen will need cutting out mate, have you seen DK's caddy thread? he had the same problem, looked like a lot of work but turned out really well

and imo these alloys could look pretty sweet with the right kind of lowerage 8-)

Those alloys could be made to work on your jetta ;)

where did you get the net from and how much was it?

came with the caddy

i think justcaddys.co.uk sell them?

bloke at work just got basically the same as this but white.

they're soo cool!

cheq plate usually hides things but looks like you were lucky :) looks awesome redone, & removed tailgate ftw ;)

loveeeeeee it!

Looks awesome now with that checker plate

However, id have plastered underneath it all with hammerite or something before covering it in the stuff. i can see it doing more bad than good.

Mythbusters on Discovery channel proved them rear nets actually reduced MPG more than having the lib down or up and with no LID, lol

BUt loosk gr8 haha

Looks really good. The nets suit them so well.

Merc hub caps ftw :)
