To keep it short and sweet.

I had some lovely Mercedes alloys (2 sets, from 1995ish SLK fitment) in my possession for 5 years, they were moved outside and covered last year. (out of sight, miles off the beaten track!) i had them bound together with a thick bike lock cable & padlock.

These were located next to my project valver which has a tarp over it when i'm not working on it.

I was working on it 2 weeks ago (last time i saw them) and had all the wheels there, hidden under a tree. bar 2 of them. one was holding the tarp down, the other cabled (bike cable) to a trailer.

I go out today to find them all gone, the cable snapped or grinded through on the mass of them and the one holding the tarp gone too, however the one next to the trailer was left!

C*nts also helped themselves to 3 of the 4 valver alloys on the car. not really bothered about them.

I can't believe they've been nicked, the only people that knew the project car was there was family and my work mate who helps me out when the weathers good. (best mate, deff not him!) i also showed a member on here my project when he wanted the engine out of it, however i made sure the wheels were out of sight!

What do i do? contact the police? forget about them and take the losses (around £2500 worth new, one set were AMG branded) i don't think the home insurance covers theft of property outside of the house.

My father is having some work done on his land (clearing and flattening) he had a couple of guys come and give him quotes and this area is in sight of my project?

We also have builders in the house at the minute, but they seem sound & have only been here a week of a 2 month contract!

In my experience (I've had my £5k road legal quad and 2 cars knicked, and my old flat got burgled twice) youll get sweet fuck all from the police, but youll have to file a report if youre going to claim on some insurance

Funny thing is, they didn't take my 2 trolley jacks left out, my (small) toolbox full of tools, a stereo or a brand new set of axle stands :s

from what you have said they were only after stuff to weigh in (hence why they left your jacks ect)...

My mate had his mk2 escort nicked by pikeys a few weeks back, it wouldnt start so they roped it up to the tranny van, and my mate woke up when he heard the tranny spinning its arse off trying to tow his scort out in the snow, he ran out in his boxers and gave chase in his mums discovery, luckily the rope snapped and the pikey in the escort bailed into the van, but my mate followed them 30 miles down the motorway at silly speeds. In the end they lead him to a housing estate where he stopped following them. So he knocked on a door in the middle of the night in his boxers and rigger boots to use someones phone to ring the cops. Never came to awt.

Still report it to the police. Even if you think you'll not get it back. At least its on the crime database or whatever so the government can't say crime is going down when infact its people not reporting it cause they know they'll not get it back! Either way its a shitter.

If anything is valuable I always keep it somewhere safe and out of sight, never leave it outside cause you never know whos watching these days. Sad you can't leave stuff in your own back yard but thats the world we live in these days.

Looks like I'll be cancelling my holiday too now as the wheels were to be sold to pay my final payments! :(

After your input and speaking to a few mates i decided i will be reporting it to the local constabulary, even if it comes to nothing. heartagrams points are all too true and i feel i should do my bit to give the government and the police force a kick up the arse.

I will be ringing around all the scrappy's, dumps and local garage's (non dealers) to see if anything comes up.

i'd even consider taking a wander around some scrappys. Most of the stuff pikeyrised from around here goes staright to the metal merhant down the road from me so its harder to find :(

Sorry for your loss mete been there. Had so many things knicked its untrue. One of the best is getting a car stolen and finding it in the ditch 10 YARDS!! from my house, happened twice!
