It's been a long month or so.

Had my debit card cloned on valentines day, got burgled the week later a week before me and my girlfriend were due to move into a new flat.

Moved into our new flat now and things are looking up. Just need to get our internet sorted so I can get my daily polo fix!

Major update.

I use the car everyday for work, hasn't let me down once. Well, apart from the old battery dying on me it's been perfect!

the front suspension is knackered; I have at least one leaking shock and ARB bushes are totally worn, the ARB rattles on bumpy roads.

As it's my lifeline to work I thought I ought to carry out some preventive maintenance in the form of the front suspension setup.

New OE Bilstein front dampers, VW Topmounts new TCA's, 40mm front springs and G-Laderseite ARB Bushes that I was saving for the Derby

Also got 2x new castle nuts incase the existing ones are buggered. over £5 each :rolleyes: and the strut nut tool

Got the day off work next tuesday and George (evabot59) is gonna teach me the shit job that is MK3 front suspension.

Cheers to B-Shaw for getting me some part numbers and mattway for lending me a 19mm swan neck spanner.

How much were the new top mounts and lower TCAs? and where did you get them from?

Topmounts were from VW and were 20 quid each. TCA's from ebay.de and were 32 quid delivered. About half the price if bought over here...

It's brill mate! Good to mess the front room up too... God knows how many parts i'm going to get when the Derby gets off the ground. There's something satisfying about genuine parts and walking into a rather nice dealership!

Rather major update...

Car went straight through the MOT last month which I was chuffed about. I seriously considered selling up and geting a GT [even advertised the car for sale] but didn't want to pay for a shitter.

Went to pick up a set of GT steels the weekend of the Polo Show from a bloke and his wife breaking a GT. It had done 72k.

2 weeks later, today, I went and got the engine...

Head gasket had gone and the head has been dismantled so need to rebuild that possibly with a high lift cam. Get a load of gaskets and a clutch and get her in the GT for January when my insurance is up for renewal.

Went and got it from this father and son combo:

Totally standard, 72k, needs a few bits and bobs like heater hoses, inline fuel pump etc. But around 90% is all there, all injection setup too.

Will be put into my breadvan over Christmas hopefully...

Another brief update...

Decided to give her a clean last weekend, albeit a very quick clean. Was looking rather faded and the worst car by far in the car park at work

Busted out the T-Cut colourfast, chuffed with the results. May even keep up the cleaning

Will be up for sale soon too.
